Baguette Sandwiches in NYC

Does anyone know of a deli in NYC that has really authentic French baguette sandwiches? I recently had one at the MET (museum)'s North Wing Cafe but they were extremely overpriced.

Thanks

Actually yes, I can recommend a small deli on Park Ave South between 28th and 29th on the west side of the street that has wonderful baguette sandwiches. My fav is the sun dried tomato and cheese.

GET OUT! I work on Park South & 31st.

I will definitely have to check it out.

Thanks.

Gee.... I would go to Balthazar Bakery (or Sullivan St. Bakery), buy one of their delicious(seriously) baguettes and make my own sandwiches...

Used to live at 29th and Lex (getting to be a smaller world every day), so I had lunch at that deli almost everyday since my office was on 28th St.

OH even BETTER, is the little bakery on Lex between 29th and 28th, it's a french bakery and the chef there is fantastic. The smell of the fresh bread is amazing. They do all sorts of wonderful sandwiches. It's in the middle of the block on the east side of Lex.

The next time you go to the Met, go to Le Pain Quotidien on Madison & 84 st. or Payard Bisto on Lexington & 73 st.

I worked on Park Ave South and 28th St and I can't figure out where you're talking about. Please let me know.

Do you happen to know the name of the bakery on Lex between 28th and 29th?

Todaros, 2nd Ave bet 30th and 31st, has lots of sandwiches made fresh each day, some baguette-style. And of course they'll also create one to your order.

I'm answering my own question! :-)

Since I started working in midtown (31st & Park), I found a couple places with good baguette sandwiches.

Suzie's on the corner of 30th & Park has a variety of sandwiches. It's a huge "buffet by the pound" diner but they have a sandwich section. I've been eating a lot of "fresh mozzarela with sun-dried tomatoes" and "honey ham with brie and apple" baguettes.

Across the street, there's Cosi -- a chain outlet that has pretty decent sandwiches, but not baguette style.
