Hi Melissa- even worse, up here in Manoa we have no power! All the wind must have knocked down the lines, so we're enjoying candlelight (and laptop light)! I'm in down booties, sweats and under two quilts. Guess cold is a relative term, isn't it?

OliveOyl Feb 15th, 2003 03:40 AM

We'll have a high around 80 today in Tampa and are headed to the boat (unfortunately not to sail, in all honesty, but to start revarnishing). :> Talk to us again this summer and we'll be singing a different tune though (except Patrick who is lucky enough to get out of Dodge for the summer)!

That "God's waiting room" line by the way, was not original to your friend, bmw. It's an old, old old, joke and hey, we ship them right back to you come April so they can wait up there!

Woke up this morning expecting 2 to 4 inches of snow, on top of the ice in the driveway, and NOTHING....great job again, mr weatherman :) but who knows what sunday night will bring, maybe the real thing this time, anyway, it's 18 degrees here in CT but with the wind chill may be much lower, just dont' want to get bundled up to walk the dogs yet. I think it's all the groundhog's fault! Lucky you, Patrick!!

buckeyemom Feb 15th, 2003 05:00 AM

We have 6" of snow on the ground this morning and another 3-4" expected. No ice which is a good thing. DH was able to make it to hockey practice and I am sitting here sipping my 2nd cup of coffee and planning our Keys trip in April. Will go out and make a snowman later with the kids and go sledding.

O-Don't envy the varnishing. We do that every spring on ours.

Paul Feb 15th, 2003 05:15 AM

Drove to work yesterday in the cold and the grey. Got on the internet before anything else. Booked a trip 10-day trip to Naples, FL. for next Friday. Get me outta' Michigan, I've had enough of this winter!

Happy Trails,
Paul

Heat wave next week in Boston,32-38,above zero.

BuffaloGirl Feb 15th, 2003 05:45 AM

Maybe this will make some of you freezing people out there feel better.......I live in Buffalo and you don't!!!! Welcome to my world. Keep warm.

Patrick Feb 15th, 2003 07:49 AM

Hey, Paul looks like you may be coming at a good time. As your parents have probably told you the weather is glorious right now. No long pants for the beach walk this morning, was already 68 when I got up, and is now 80 -- not yet noon! So let's hope for no cold front between now and your arrival. Just make sure they seal the doors on the plane so they don't bring any of that Michigan air with you.

Email me, Paul. I may also have a free pair of Kiss Me Kate tickets (I have only a minor role, but the show should be good anyway - LOL) for our preview night on Wednesday, Feb. 26. And let's finally meet over a drink or lunch one day.

[email protected]

In ND and MN we laugh when you complain about "cold weather". I get sick of New Yorkers complaining about temps that are 20 to 40 degrees warmer than we have to face here. I know that "New England" is colder than NYC. New Yorkers need to quit complaining about their cold weather, when some of us consider them to be whining about nothing.

70 here today on the southeast coast.

jersey Feb 15th, 2003 12:16 PM

OK wemr, you win. You live in the coldest place. But my nose hairs still froze when I went out this AM.

ilisa Feb 15th, 2003 12:18 PM

Well, here in Germantown, MD we woke up to about 3 inches of snow. It has been snowing on and off all day. The last weather report I heard said about another 1-3 inches overnight tonight, and then up to another 8 Sunday into Monday. Only one more week until my cruise!

Marianna Feb 15th, 2003 12:48 PM

It has been extremely cold in my neck of the woods (25 miles north of Boston) for the past few weeks. The cats haven't been out for days, maybe weeks, and they lowered the temperature in my school several degrees due to budget issues. The kids haven't had outdoor recess in a very long time! Thursday morning it was 6 degrees below zero when I drove to work. Right now it is 6 degrees above. Looking forward to heading to your part of the country next week, Patrick. Sanibel, here I come!

gail Feb 15th, 2003 12:50 PM

Also live about 20 miles north of Boston. My daughter has her first soccer practice scheduled in 5 weeks. That will be really funny since there has been snow on the ground continuously since December and more is expected.

Of course, this is the one year I decided to save a little money and not visit my brother in south Florida.

roomiec Feb 15th, 2003 04:57 PM

Here in Delray Beach, Fl we had to leave the beach after a few hours. It was TOO HOT!!!
Seriously though, there's plenty of room on the sand.
Come on Down!!

MelissaHI Feb 15th, 2003 06:05 PM

Oh my gosh, lcuy.....I saw your power outage on the news last night! At least it was romantic. ;-)

I kept warm today by doing the laundry then throwing it all in the dryer. brrr. windy!

John Feb 15th, 2003 08:53 PM

It is summertime down here in New Zealand, it was about 28.Celcius yesterday but today was a bit cooler, around 24.Celcius.

We are desperate for rain, the grass is crisp and brown and the water holes have dried off, the farm animals would also enjoy a break from this hot dry period.

Christa.
Natalia Feb 15th, 2003 10:02 PM
