Are the Forums working better for you today?
 

We took the site down briefly last night as a part of an effort to fix some of the issues that have cropped up here, especially in the last week or so.

I wanted to check in this morning to see if you were having an easier time clicking around and pulling up your threads.

I haven't had a problem this week yet, and I was having numerous problems pulling up threads last couple of weeks.

To me it seems problem-free compared to the almost constant problems last week.

Katie - so far, so good today.

Using AOL, I still cannot change forums or click on my name to find my old posts [reloading pages, resfreshing etc don't seem to help].

However, using IE6.0 it is working better.

Not sure why the trouble using AOL, I have always used it to read Fodors boards.

Still a tad slow for me (I'm using Firefox), but MUCH better than last week.

Worst day yet.

Spoke too soon. In the last hour, couldn't download fodors at all, then couldn't access most threads and some were incorrect (Europe forum pulled up just Greece).

Worked fine earlier today, then around 9:30 AM MST couldn't get the forums to load, then they came back around 10 AM but had to re-log on to access them.

Still shaky?

Today I'm having *different* problems -lol! The threads show up on the forums alright, but I have to keep logging in over & over again to post.

No - they're not.

Just tried with Safari and got absolutely nothing - page outlines but no postings. I switched to Firefox and now it's loading - but painfully slowly.

No problems on my MacBook.

No, it's been terrible for the last hour.

Last hour? Barbara, you are so lucky! I had to do some work at work for two hours!! :)

And now I can't even pull up the US forum :) Punished for my sarcasm!

I'm using Firefox and could not get anything but the page outlines of the various Forums. Then switched to Destinations, saw a post featured, clicked on it, and got the US forum, but the top left said Europe!

Hi Katie, well at first the threads showed up but basically I couldn't click on any of them. The few I could I tried to post on but my post wouldn't post. Than the threads didn't show up. Although I had not logged off I was logged off.

Now I was finally able to log on and at least here on the US Forum the threads are showing up and I was able to click on this thread of yours. It will be interesting to see if I can post this post I am typing. And if I can post will it cause the threads to dissappear which has been happening a lot these last days/weeks.

Anyway, long story short, the website is terrible so the problem has not been fixed.

OK, I was able to post but at the same time "poof"..all the threads dissappeared.

NO!

I don't believe it's a complete fix.

This morning I had no problem but this afternoon I'm having problems bringing up various sites.

Worked OK at first this morning, but now it's actually worse than a few days ago.

Yucky! US Forum, which I have bookmarked, loads fine, but neither the Lounge nor my threads (when I click on my screen name) will load at all. Oh well, back to the Olympics for me!

It's actually working very well for me now, much faster.

Having difficulties posting replies.

Slow for me.

Sometimes I have to go to a particular forums several times in order for the threads to appear.

NewbE, me too, clicking on my name 1,000 time won't help. "Refresh" is not working either.

No. It has been frustrating to try and open the forums on the board today. This is the first time I have been able to read any posts although I have logged on several times.

Nope, sorry. Better for a little bit this morning. Lots of trouble all afternoon - either couldn't get on at all OR no threads coming up.
I just got on for the first time and it was slow.

Well, I cannot access Fodor's using Internet Explorer and have to open with Mozilla Firefox, which is a pain in my Armani ass.

I am very annoyed. And when Thingorjus gets annoyed, things get thrown.

Have you ever seen me throw a chandelier through a plate-glass window?

As I stated on the Europe Forum - I'm leaving Fodors until you fix the problem and you e-mail me to tell me you've done so. This is un-acceptable, and I have better things to do with my time than stress test your system for you.

In the mean time, I'll be at other travel forums.

working well for me tonight. Has been terrible at times for the past week.

I still had problems this morning getting threads to load.

I posted a trip report last night, but my edits didn't go through. Don't know if that's related.

The forums haven't worked well for months. I think a big part of the problem is using Doubleclick in feeding all the ads.

No - I have to log in every time instead of just clicking on my name.
Also, slow to load the questions....

It has been hit ot miss. I usually get problems when I am changing boards...say US to Europe, etc.

Nope. No posts showing in left column and repetitive log in requests.
