alison may be smart but how insulting is she to the on-and-off boyfriend??!! he needs to grow a pair of you know what!
the hotel where they all ended up in uruguay looked kinda neat in a funky sorta way (trying to keep this travel-related somewhat!!) :-)

I thought the little person and her cousin were hilarious! Its a comedy in intself. Kinda like the Odd Couple.
The scene of the two of them carrying the meat was hysterical!

peterboy Jul 7th, 2004 09:04 AM

Yes, the meat carrying was hilarious! I was impressed how well the older gent did. Slow & steady does it.
I was also amused at the cluster at the airline counter where they spent so much time abusing each other for saving a place in line that no one checked to find out about the flight that arrived earlier. Human nature at it's finest!

:@ aaawwwwwwwww!!!!!!

I missed it! Didn't have a clue until I just saw this thread. I love that show...

Did anybody tape it? ;;)

kikahead Jul 7th, 2004 03:03 PM

I have heard they are showing a rerun of it on Saturday. Great episode although I agree that they didn't show much landscape this time. Love the internet couple!!! I also really like the mom team.

Best reality show on television...we should send a link to this positive thread to CBS.

antlori Jul 7th, 2004 05:54 PM

I can't believe "big" cousin let "little" cousin carry that side of beef! I was really worried about the father, though, didn't see how he injured his leg. Missed the beginning--guess I'll have to watch again on Saturday. Bowling moms rock!!

I have a technical/logistics question about the Amazing Race: How does Phil get there before everyone else?

He was at the pier at the start. He explained the route markers, detours, yields, etc. at their location and he was at the pit stop. I realize he doesn't have to perform the tasks, but it still takes time to film the segments. Maybe some were filmed ahead of time? Maybe TAR crew has a charter flight?

Yes, I am addicted.

SEW Jul 8th, 2004 07:54 AM

There was an article in TV Guide about Phil getting between the two spots. Actually, it was 10 secrets of amazing race. I wish I had saved it, but alas it is recycled.

They usually have enough in the way of road blocks and detours to give him time to get there. I don't remember exactly, but it the article said it was a major problem in the first series because the players were so spread out in the arrival and departure times. I think that is why they have the equalizer factor.

I missed all but the last half hour, so I'll be watching on Sat night as well.

Bowling Moms Rock. Alison should get voted off the island. Let Donny finish the race.

ncgrrl Jul 8th, 2004 10:09 AM

Thanks for the answer SEW. I guess if they can't get all of Phil's stuff filmed before heading to the pit stop (and his crew should know where it is) they can finish up during the break.

If the show ever comes through Durham, NC, I want to be the person saying "Welcome to Durham."

Love this show too -- however I do hope they make it more interesting than who gets on the fast airplane wins kinda game. But I gues for viewer ratings they have to make the end a suspense.

The hotel at the end looked very cool -- it is in Punte del Este, Uruguay, called Casa del Pueblo. There is a picture of it on the web-site under "Destinations."

ethaete Jul 10th, 2004 05:08 PM

The last half of amazing race is on CBS (at least in Phila)....

sandi Jul 11th, 2004 04:06 AM

And where may I ask is the first half of AR shown? Am I understanding correctly that part of the show is on CBS and the other part somewhere else? Duh!
Who made that decision, or rather a non-decision!!!!

apseals Jul 11th, 2004 04:30 AM

The whole show is on CBS. I am guessing that the show will run on Tuesdays with a repeat on Saturdays through the summer and then switch to Sunday's once the fall season starts. I think I read somewhere that another series is planned to finish out the regular season on Sunday's after the AM is over.

I LOVE the race and have watched it since Season One. They have had some great pairings. At this early stage, I like the bowling moms, the father/daughter combo, and the internet dating couple. I hate when they pick people from Texas that are obnoxious. I am from Texas and our reps this year are dating model/beauty queen virgins and obnoxious pizza brothers! Oh Brother! Why can't they find a "Colby-type"?? :)

The first episode was too much "run and gun" and not enough scenery. Hope for more on the scenery side as the race progresses.

apseals Jul 14th, 2004 08:33 PM

I have been out of town and just now saw this weeks episode. It is so nice to see the underdog teams do better than those that you would presume would be stronger. Being from Texas, I am so embarrased by the Texas Pizza boys....maybe they will be the next to go! :)

UTHorns81 Jul 15th, 2004 05:06 AM

I totally agree, the pizza boys have to go. Enjoyed seeing the Uruguay coast last week, it was beautiful. I am very excited about the new season. It is by far the best reality TV show around.

tmh Jul 15th, 2004 05:49 AM

Yahoo - got rid of the Big Brother idiot and her boyfriend. Also, seems like he'll be getting rid of her too.

Marrion Jul 15th, 2004 10:47 AM

what is this amazing race you are all talking about...never heard of it

jedivader Jul 15th, 2004 11:03 AM

Check out CBS at 10pm on Tuesdays. The "Amazing Race" is one of the best reality shows on television. It mixes competition with travel. I would love to be on the show and get to visit all of the different countries/cities. The show does not get enough publicity. Too much focus is on the idoit reality shows (Bachelor, bachelorette, Big Brother, Mommy Swap, etc.) I wish the "Race" wasn't on at 10 though.

Marrion Jul 15th, 2004 11:07 AM

O.K. thanks I live in U.K. so probably won't be able to see it. We have Big Brother here, some people seem to find it entertaining!!! I don't
