OK, so the detours and roadblocks this season don't seem to be quite as creative as other seasons, but I still love seeing different parts of the USA.
In an interview (on the CBS website)with one of the Linz boys (Nick, I think), he stated that it has really given him an appreciation for travel. That there is more out there, than just working 6 days a week and never getting out of your routine. So whether the Linz's win the 1 million or not, this show has been very valuable in terms of broadening their horizons and exposing them to the wonders of travel. What a great experience for young-20 yr. olds! Ditto for the Bransons. I don't think the Weavers really have ever appreciated the new and different places they've visited. Too bad that they don't see this as the great opportunity it is to see something other than Florida. |
Unfortunately, I think the Weavers are too ignorant to learn ANYTHING from this experience, even after they watch it.
|
I agree brenandg - I doubt the Weavers will learn anything from this. It is one thing for people to be uninformed or inexperienced, after all, we are all uniformed and inexperienced in different areas, but the Weavers seem totally uninterested in learning anything new. I can't stand that. Just bugs the heck out of me.
|
Is it even going to much of a contest, with the Linz's winning it all????
|
Even though I didn't care as much about this race, I am looking forward to tonight's 2 hour finish!

Has anyone started a thread for tonight's episode?
|
I don't think there is a new thread started yet. Getting ready to go watch in a few minutes. Anyone want to start a new one after the show? It has been voiced that if the threads get too long, it takes longer for those with dial up to download.

getting kind of worried that the Weaver family is going to win.
can they be anymore obnoxious? I mean, those short biker shorts that the girls are wearing in Canada! and the way they are going on and on about their cab driver, ted. i thought i was about to see some more skin showing! |
I hope the Weavers DO win. They haven't been nasty to each other, and they've had to face two tasks that were very reminiscent of the way their father died.
The other teams have excluded them and been mean spirited, calling the Weavers names. |
thank god the weavers didn't win. they were mean spirited towards everyone else on numerous occasions, yet they always brought being a christian into the equation. being a christian is more about acting christian towards others and less about calling others names.
|
Just as predicted 2 weeks ago, Linzes at Niagra Falls in a close finish.
I liked the way that the Bransons were holding hands and telling each other they were proud of them, as the ran up in 2nd at the end. Keith |
I'm very happy with the outcome. Loved watching the Whirlpool Jetboat segment as we did that a couple of years ago.
Wonder how that leak got out that the Linzs' would win? The next installment looks to be great viewing. Can't wait to get back to the prior format. As for the Linzs', what a "cool" thing to do in your younger years. They made the most of it and seemed to enjoy it. |
"Wonder how that leak got out that the Linzs' would win?"
Probably a family member. There were so many bets being placed on them (from Ohio) that betting was haulted before the race began. Keith |
Here's the link for the additional contest between Teams 2 & 3, for the Yukon:

I hope the Weavers DO win. They haven't been nasty to each other, and they've had to face two tasks that were very reminiscent of the way their father died.
The other teams have excluded them and been mean spirited, calling the Weavers names. Have we been watching the same show? They constantly excluded themselves! Look in the dictionary under "holier than thou" and you'll find the Weavers, who seem to think religion is there to win you games and smite people who dare to compete with lip-service Christians. They were consistently ungenerous, uncharitable and snide in their approach to other teams, and vain about their own areas of ignorance. Just because they hung together a little better than some of the teams (which accounts partly for their making it to 3rd place), that doesn't cancel out the rank hypocrisy in how they thought of and treated outsiders. I'll give them credit for coping with the 2 tasks that seemed mean-spirited on the part of the producers, but my most cynical little gremlin thinks the producers purposely set those tasks up thinking it might be good to give the audience the Weavers as courageous underdogs. But as the race went on, and their sanctimonious nastiness showed up along with their dimwitted sense of geography, the producers decided they weren't going to be the sympathetic winners hoped for. And if you want to be REALLY cynical, you'd have to think that map-puzzle at the end of the game was designed to weed out someone with a lousy sense of geography. I would have guessed the Linz family even without the leaks, anyway. Which team, btw, was it who shared the discovery of the flag from the CN tower with the other team? Did a Linz share it with Branson or vice versa? Although I didn't hate this race as much as some other people seem to, I admit I'm looking forward to a return to the couples format. |
I don't think either team shared the flag location with the other.
The way the producers set things up to make sure the ending would be close and exciting (bringing every team together withih 5 minutes at the beginning of the day) made sense, but was a little too heavy handed. It made the entire first half of the episode seem meaningless. Thanks for the link, Joan! Keith |
cfc, I'm not defending the Weavers' religious duplicity- but from the third week of the game, the others were name-calling her en mass. It's just not as one sided as you make it seem.
The Lenz siblings were calling the Weaver Mom Thunderthighs last night . And for weeks, "Wicked witch with her monkeys" and *&#&$&face. And that's not personal? The Weavers would have lost on the map alone anyway. |
Darn! I can't get the video of the additional contest between Teams 2 & 3 to play in either of my browsers.
Please tell me that the Bransens won! Keith |
Actually, JJ5, I think the Linzes comments were directed to themselves. They never said mean things to other contestants and the Weavers certainly did, often. They are the nastiest people ever to be on this show. I read that Ma Weaver, far from trying to get over the tragic death of ther husband, is actually engaged to someome now, and was at the time of the taping of the show. Remember the shirt she wore all the time with "Chris" on it? That's the guy. They're in the dictionary under "hypocrisy" too.
cfc, totally agree with every word. |
The Linzs' comments were definitely NOT directed to themselves. They name called that women constantly.
They had an entirely different kind of "who dey" humor reflecting upon themselves. I liked them for other reasons but they got into the "love to hate" thing immensely. IMHO, the Bransons were the only ones who did NOT enter the hate arena. And what difference does it make if she is engaged or not! What's wrong with that. |
