... a few swing states? Perhaps. Or perhaps voters in Oregon, Wash., NM, Nev, Mo, La, Tn, Ky, WV, Ohio, Iowa, Mich, NH, Pa ... and oh, yes, Fl. Yes, some will simply accept that a few voters (helped by Nader) will decide the outcome. W is counting on that. See current New Yorker: K's foreign policy. Yes, non-travel related, apologies to all. Do have a good day.

Monday Rave: Experiencing a cold front in Waco, Tx., too. Temp outside is 71 degrees! Perfect, since my AC is only working off and on. Let's see ... have to get AC fixed ... old car in the shop getting new transmission so youngest son will have wheels ... sunroom needs new floor ... 2 cats need dental work (!) ... wonder if I can still afford this next problem ???

Rave/Rant: Two friends want to go to Vegas -- one at the end of August, one in Sept. or Oct. -- and I can't do both. (Not enough vacation days left.) Heck, yeah, I can afford it! Vegas, here I come. (I hope.)

Sunday 7/25/04 high at RDU airport 78. Wow. That is closer to a normal daily low for July. Much better than normal temps. I was able to go out an enjoy the evening outside without melting.

bonniebroad Jul 26th, 2004 08:03 AM

ncgrrl, I realized after posting that we were having low 80's (the forecast), that we didn't even hit 80!!! Great, isn't it?:-)

Weekend rave: LA Opera's "A Little Night Music" at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Perfect production (from NYC Opera), perfect cast (led by Victor Garber, Judith Ivey and Dame Zoe Caldwell), perfect evening! It IS Dom Pérignon, heady, sophisticated, sparkling, sumptuous. If you're in the area, don't miss it (it closes this weekend)!!

Perfect weather too. Bike ride on the beach yesterday-- sun, clear skies, relatively smogless air (I could see mountains!) in Long Beach. Families enjoying the perfect summer day.

Perfect weekend!!!!

PamSF Jul 26th, 2004 08:08 AM

ok it's Monday but we did have a wonderful weekend. We got the house back together after the remodel (ah cleanliness is next to godliness), gardened more, saw "The Clearing" and "Xix Feet Under". As always, this am came with a startle!

We're still at a toasty lower 90s down here. Floating in the ocean yesterday the water felt like bathwater.

NOAA station water temp is 85 degrees.

Spent 14 hours Fri. traveling home from the Oregon Coast. We got to try two wonderful wineries in Southern Oregon on the way home and that was fun.

Sat. was spent unpacking and then we attended a beautiful wedding with my daughter and middle son and his date. It was gorgeous and the bride was glowing and beautiful. Very nice, fun reception afterwards.

Sun. am is always church at our home church here. After lunch at Panda Express we sent out daughter off to camp for the week in the Sequoia area.

Middle son and dad went to see Bourne Identity and my oldest son and his FIANCEE came home last night from their great trip to the Oregon Coast. Back to the heat and the normal routine for awhile until I can plan our next escape!!

Need to come up with some ideas for hubby's 50th BD coming up soon. Maybe Tahoe or one night up at the Chateau du Sureau in Oakhurst with dinner at The Elderberry House. ***kim***

Weekend Rave: Drove 4 hours to Chicago so we could eat at our favorite restaurant, Geja's. Stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel, great place, got our picture taken with Robert Englund. Hit Division Street Saturday night.

I am sorry, but I have to throw this rant in. Met a good looking, seemed to be nice guy, turned out to not be single if you know what I mean!!

gyppielou Jul 26th, 2004 12:05 PM

I broke into the "boy's club" and proved to them "anything boy's can do, girls can do better!" or at least just as well!!!

Scarlett Jul 26th, 2004 12:45 PM

blacktie, I thought you were doing the hula in Hawaii by now!
I will be watching BBC tonight, a new two part thriller that sounds very good.
bugswife, I heard that the NYC weather has been almost perfect this summer..I am happy for those I left behind ~
Can I say, I am homesick? :)

Great weekend! I'm pregnant! (Ok so there was another great weekend several weeks ago!..)

blacktie Jul 26th, 2004 12:51 PM

No, ma'am, this Friday afternoon, after a long flight. I almost get to celebrate a b'day there, but the redeye will have to be it.

Now, what about tuning in the convention and seeing Carter and Clinton, and Hill, and others? Really important.

This web site is a different place from last time - very a-political. Maybe that's how it has to be.

blacktie Jul 26th, 2004 01:10 PM

Sorry, Leelani, but hate and Coulter are not of interest. This year, it's time to think about America, and then vote. Hopefully people will tune into BOTH conventions and see what is being offered. Just my hope for the country ... and people will decide what interests them. TV offers many options.

Scarlett Jul 26th, 2004 01:48 PM

OK, back to Sunday raves....

CONGRATULATIONS OneWanderingJew!
When is your due date? I guess 8 months from now ? :D

You can tell us about the other Wonderful weekend too if you want LOL

gyppielou Jul 26th, 2004 03:24 PM

Scarlett....perhaps I wasn't clear...on sunday I hit a grand slam for working women out there. I did what no girl in this town has done before.

Marilyn Jul 26th, 2004 03:33 PM

gyppielou, I must have missed something. What exactly did you do on Sunday to make us proud?

Kal Jul 26th, 2004 03:49 PM

We dodged BOTH families on Sunday so it was alllllll goooood!

And Mrs Kal got to see her tennis fave, Martina Navratilova in Sacto last night. She's built just like Mrs Kal-2 arms, 2 legs and a head. =D>

gyppielou Jul 26th, 2004 04:01 PM

sorry Marilynn, I simply broke down some professional barriers. To offer details, would impact my privacy...giving details I don't care to share. Just wanted to rave my celebration of breaking down walls for all girls out there. Most days it aint easy working in a male oriented industry. Survival of the fittest, and this past sunday...rave....I was the fittest.

Marilyn Jul 26th, 2004 04:06 PM

Ok gyppielou, you just GO girl! :-D
(But of course you've piqued my curiosity terribly!)
