What a lovely trip, starrs! I found myself smiling the entire time I was reading your trip report. Thanks for sharing.

You are making me smile starrs as I so remember our walking into John's Grill and DF sitting at the bar! John's Grill has decades of beautiful memories for me as you know.

And oh yes, Prosecco and mussels..you have my number, lol! Thanks for thinking of me.

A lovely and fun trip report dear friend!

Great trip report..
You went to some of our favorite restaurants in SF..
Isn't Boulevard and Slanted Door wonderful?
Glad you had a great time!

Sean Astin = a gentle giant?
I guess it depends on how tall or short the person is that is looking at him..

He always seemed short to me.

Was he a Hobbit , last time you saw him ... lol :)

Scarlett just me made me chuckle.

Been going to Boulvevard since it opened many moons ago. It feels more like an old friend now than anything else. The little tables/banquettes for two along the side wall are some of the best tables in San Francisco.

Have you ever eaten in the small private room? And did you ever get their lobster appetizer (which they haven't had on the menu in a long time -- don't know why, because MY mouth waters just thinking about it). Oh, and I have $100 gift certificate. I think I'll use it soon!!

I've never heard of Lovejoy's, but I had the pleasure of living in Noe Valley (Day and 30th Streets) from 1978-1986. Great great neighborhood.

lol, I made q chuckle .. my work is done .. hobbits hobbits!

All I can think of is that I lived a few blocks from Coffee Cantata ( I know , they closed) and a fencing school that was the coolest thing I ever saw ... hey, I was fresh out of North Carolina !!

sf7307, I know...why don't we have the Palo Alto GTG at Boulevard and you can pay? :-d

Kal May 19th, 2009 05:05 PM

sf ol' buddy ol' pal...use it THIS WEEKEND in SF. ;;);;)

How long has Boulevard been open?
I'm still surprised we haven't been. Walked by it tons of times.

starrs May 19th, 2009 05:19 PM

Boulevard opened in 1993 - http://www.boulevardrestaurant.com/main.html

sf7307, if you enjoy tea, try Lovejoy's. It was delightful. I will be back :-)

Boulevard is on the top of my list to return to in September. I love that restaurant. It's like certain restaurants in NY that I know I'm going to have a good evening in any time I go. It has that certain spirit besides good food.
