A question about Detroit airport

Anybody know how you get from concourse B to concourse A? On the map they do not look connected. Is that true? Thanks!

Are you referring to the Northwest Terminal? If so, there is an underground walkway.

It is labeled McNamara Terminal on the map. It is a Northwest flight (well, actually Mesaba airline on the way in and Northwest ont he way out). THANK YOU!

I haven't been in the old Smith Terminal in years. (I used to fly out of there regularly until the McNamara Terminal was built.) However, to answer your question, the concourses - A, B, and C - are all connected. You can walk from one to the other. However, if one of your gates is all the way out on Concourse A, you will have a long walk.

You might want to re-post your question on the Airline board. Someone there may be able to give you more current info. on people movers . . .

wliwl, I just saw that you are in the McNamara terminal. jlm_mi, is correct. There is an underground walkway. Navigating the McNamara terminal is a breeze compared with the old Smith.

Oops - One more thing....Will he have to go through security again when switching from concourse B to concourse A?

THANKS!!!

No, you can wander freely between them. If you wanted to leave the secure area, you'd have to walk from B through A to get out. But there are several shops and restaurants in A to keep you occupied, so that shouldn't be an issue.

If you have time, be sure to sit and watch the wonderful fountain in the middle of concourse A for a while. It's mesmerizing! :)

I believe they just opened new stores and restaurants in B as well. Good thing, there used to be nothing but a book store in B. You might want to check before you leave A what they have now in B, it is a long walk between the two.

The Detroit Free Press published a pretty comprehensive guide to the airport on Nov 13. It has info on parking, shops and restaurants, ATMs as well as security tips. It's at <http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...2/FEATURES>
