I am very fortunate to have been able to travel to most of my wish list. However, there are a few places left. I actually have two lists. My husband and I have three toddler boys and I have a list of places I want to go with just my husband and places I can't wait to go with my sons when they are old enough.
Just Husband 1) Petra 2) India 3) Decadent long weekend L'Auberge With the guys 1) Rafting/hiking Grand Canyon 2) Hiking Machu Pichu and Galapagos trip 3) China interior trip taitai |
Thanks to karameli and Google,my wife has placed Santorini on our list. After googling Browerville, MN, I don't think it is going to make list.
|
I have the book too and would really like to do all 1000, but not sure if I'll make it.
I haven't done any South American or Continental Europe destinations so those are top of my list. I've been able to cross of about 35 of the destinations so far - hopefully more will follow soon. |
Before I die I want to check out:
Heaven Shangri-La Utopia Paradise Nirvana So I'll know where I want to go when I kick the bucket. |
At least Browerville, MN is a real place.
|
Aloha,
Ireland, New Zealand, and Disneyworld...with some of the grandkids on that last one.I am probably the only one in my family that hasn't seen the Kiluea volcano erupting on the big Island. Pake |
Browerville just happens to be my home town. Great hunting & fishing near there.
Thats where the 56438 on my screen name comes from. |
Only 3? Still to do * Italian Lakes and Venice * Australia and Whitsunday Islands * New England (and more of America, hopefully California and San Francisco, again) Been (and would highly recommend) * Ireland - many times, but can't get enough * Lapland - its a different world * More Paradors in Spain (that are luxury) |
what i have seen so far that i cherish and would say you have to see it before you die: (1) Venice (2) Santorini Greece and (3) NYC
|
I want to see:
Switzerland/Austrian Alps and Vienna New Zealand Alaska |
3 places I have visited:
1. the Masai Mara and Serengeti – hard to describe how humbling it was to feel so close to nature and so vulnerable. We had a tree house above a leopard watering hole experience. No electricity, no guards, no phone and 7 miles from the main lodge. Just us and animals below us. We were scared shitless and felt like complete idiots the next morning. 2. The Great Wall. Same reason: humbling, inspiring and a sense of our teeny tiny little place in the world and in history. 3. The Grand Canyon. I've visited many other "fancier" accomplishment of civilization like the hermitage, the louvre, the vatican...and none of them came close to the grand artwork of mother nature. 3 places I haven't been but dream of: 1. Machu Picchu 2. Angkor Wat 3. surfing in Australia |
As I am working on a goal of visiting all 50 states in the U.S.(halfway done), the top U.S. sites I would like to visit would be:
Yellowstone NP Mount Rushmore Seattle, WA Having already visited many of the Western European Countries, some of the Far East and Canada; my top Int'l places would be: Australia/New Zealand Israel/Egypt Russia/Scandanavia |
Ireland
Italy San Fran |

Australia, re-visit New Zealand Have fun traveling..........Marilee |
Africa

Best Places I've been:
1. Mt. Rainier - hiking the Skyline Trail from Paradise lodge when the wildflowers are in bloom. 2. Kings Canyon / Sequoia NP - the drive into Kings Canyon or Mineral King are amazing. 3. San Francisco & Istanbul - water and skyline for the views, and awesome food and atmosphere. A wonderful juxtaposition of peoples and cultures. 4. Bryce Canyon in early morning or late afternoon. Escalante Grand Staircase NM and the drive along Hw12 frm Escalante to Anasazi SP. Makes you appreciate the hard working 1930's era CCC to build that road in one of the most remote places. 5. tide pools, Olympic NP. Low tide. Bright orange starfish. Lime green anemones. Deep purple starfish. Before I die: 1. Go back! Mt. Rainier - Slyline trail from Paradise lodge when wildflowers in bloom. 2. Yellowstone 3. the rest of Turkey 4. Belize (underwater) 5. to see the Northern Lights again 6. Iceland 7. Spain 8. Go back to the tide pools at Olympic NP and see deep purple starfish. |
cmcfong - Want to see the Aurora Borealis? Saw it from a plane going from JFK to Europe in November. Happened to look out the window at about 10PM (just south of Greenland) and there it was!! No need to make a special trip just to go see it.
