3 bdrm apartment manhattan/april
Need a 3 bedroom apartment for one week abut April 17-14. No steps if possible;
Midtown would be preferable. |
Short-term rentals in Manhattan are usually illegal and not uncommonly scams. (Separately, that's a large apt for Manhattan - where most are studios or one bedrooms - not easy to find.)
Is there some reason you can;t use a hotel? What is your budget and what bed configuration do you need? People can then make recos that will not present potential issues. |
3 bedroom apts. are very rare and therefore very expensive. Why do you need 3 bedrooms? Separate rooms for adults will be cheaper.
|
What was wrong with the 2 bedroom info you got?
|
Listen to the above advice. Most apartment rentals in NYC are either illegal or scams. There are some nice apartment/hotels. Try the Affinia Group.
|
Thanks for all the comments. Yes, 3 brm flats are hard to find, but they do exist, and I am having luck finding large 2 bedroom ones whist sleep 5 people, which I need.
This is a great site. |
You did read the part where they are mostly illegal, right?
|
Suggest that you run the apartment specifics - location, company etc - past NYC locals here that can provide some perspective.
Often the sites have incorrect info (one said 15 minutes to Manhattan when it was in Jersey - so 15 minutes by helicopter) and others are outright scams. A couple of previous posters here were scammed out of the money they paid - so do tyr to get all the help you can checking on the places you're looking at. |
RESTAURANT SUGGESTIONS?? for east 50th st. area 300 block east.
Found a great 3 bedroom flat in New York for my family. Now need suggestions for shops and restaurants in the area. |
So, how did you find this GREAT apartment. Did get it in an apartment/hotel or did you ignore our suggestions and rent an illegal?
|
berniekern, did they ask for a large deposit? If so you probably lost your money.
|
Why would anyone in their right mind help you any further, bernie?
|
Kind of strange.
Berniekern says, "This is a great site", but does exactly what nearly everyone has said NOT to do. Any chance we're going to find out what this "great apartment find" was? Or am I missing the boat here and he/she really HAS found a great legitimate apartment rental? And does this mean he's looking for restaurant suggestions now so he can avoid going to the ones recommended by Fodorites? |
Yes, have a 3 brm apartment on e 50th st. not a scam. see"lisasuites" e 57th st flats. a penthouse- legitimate. Would be happy with Fodorite restaurant suggestions- haven't seen any on this site. Have Fodor guide book- but would like any recommended places in neighborhood. East 50's- 1st or 2nd ave. for example. I'm sure there are many- but would be nice to know if you have any special favorites-i.e.:french?
|
do you have a web site for "lisasuites"? a search brings up no results.
|
go to:[email protected]
|
Oh, that makes a huge difference. Not everyone can get an e-mail address, so the "penthouse" on 50th St. is absolutely legit.
I kind of know 50th St. and can't think of any buildings there that might have a "penthouse" unless a 5th floor walkup is your idea of a penthouse. |
Bernie,
If you go forward with this "legit rental," please have a Plan B that includes walking four blocks to 53rd and 3rd where your namesake, Mr. Madoff, had his offices. It might help to be able to think of others who lost much more. |
>>>[email protected]<<<
is an email address not a web site. What is the web site? |
I hope you have the exact address of the building and have checked it out on google maps - to be sure it exists and also that it is a residential building. (And not one of those 750 east 52nd St -- which would put it in the middle of the East River. I once tried to help a couple from Germany who had gotten off the subway with their bags and were trying to find an apartment they were told was at the corner of 7th Ave and 95th St - which would put it in the middle of Central Park. I hoped that they had confused 7th with 2nd Ave - but they showed me 7th in writing - but no specific street address.)
If you list the name of the web site locals can look at it and try to figure out what it is. And I hope you have a 24 hour landline in case of any problems - not just a gmail address or cell phone). |
