2nd to Suba
We are planning a group dinner for a birthday and our first choice to try is Suba. We have a reservation for now but are a little concerned about the timing with going to a show. What would be your next choice?

suba is on the lower east side - a group dinner always takes a long time - most theaters are in the 40's 50's on the west side - unless you want to eat at 5 - go someplace closer to te theater - or at least on the west side where you canshoot uptown. Suba is a small restaurant in the basement, made to look like a grotta - we had a nice time there, but classify it in the "oner" category - a restaraunt you want to try - are happy you did - but wouldnt return to!

We are actually going after the matinee for an earlier than usual NY dinner. :) Probably would like to sit down around 7. Any other fun suggestions would be appreciated.

After a matinee on what day of the week? How old is the group? How many? Why are you concerned about a 7pm seating?

I've been to Suba a half dozen times, usually with a group of 8 or more. It's a fun restaurant with a great vibe.
But it's certainly a LONG way from the Theater District. If you're show is there, I'd strongly suggest going somewhere else for dinner. |
