18 year old in Hawaii
What is the legal drinking age in Hawaii?
My daughter who has just turned 18 has suddenly realised she may not be able to drink alcohol on our trip.
Is the situation any different in restaurants?
Many thanks

Frances, I was just about to give you a smart ass answer about Hawaii actually being a state (some Americans who post on here don't seem to realize that), but then luckily I noticed from your email address that you're from the UK! Whew, would have had a red face there! Anyway, the legal drinking age in all 50 states is 21. I'm not sure about restaurants, so hopefully someone else can answer that for you.

Having been a waitress for a while, I can tell you that all dining & drinking establishments must card to ensure that alcohol consumers are 21 years of age or older.

Thanks to both of you, I'll chose the moment to break the bad news!
Can anyone recommend what to do New Years Eve in Waikiki? We are a family of Mum and Dad and two daughters aged 18 and 14.
In the past we have spent the New Year in India with parties and dancing on the beach and all children are welcomed.
However we spent one New Year on the Keys and could not find anything going on.Is this what its like all over the States?

There is a really spectacular New Years fireworks show on the beach in Waikiki. Additionally, residents also set off an unbeliveable amount of personal fireworks all over the island - you'll have no trouble finding something to do.
