Good idea - and you can tape them inside binocular, camera, e-reader cases and leave in rain jacket pocket, etc.
Also use as luggage tags.

And also - make copies of your itinerary and put into unlocked outside pockets of all bags - mark that luggage tag- "itinerary inside". Lost luggage can then be returned to where you presently are.

I looked at the sight...is this legal? Customs and all. I wouldn't want to hassle and deal with this on my vacation.

It's gray at best. That being said, I think it's a good idea though.
