I've always used my under-garment security pouch on the plane to carry my back-up credit and ATM cards, but before 2 of my last 4 flights, I was forced to take it off and show the guard -- tricky business, let me tell you, since I was not allowed to leave the area in either case! I'm not sure I'll try that again.

I always figure -- if my plane goes down, not having my back up credit card (or any credit card or even passport for that matter) is the least of my problems. >)

janisj: True. On the other hand, if you're going to be really pessimistic, you can see it as a way to identify the body. Unless it all burns or blows up, of course.

Hey,
I usually travel solo (female). I used to have a hidden pocket in my clothes. But, more often I am lucky enough to have a safe in hotel. |
@kja - I've only found that to be an issue in the US. There I go to the restroom before security and take it off, and go again after security to put it back on.
@janisj - if you survive the emergency, which is not so unusual these days, you may be glad of the contents. In any case, where is your primary card? Mine is in my day bag which is too big to take off with me. @jean - what anout between the airport/train station and your hotel? What about countries where you are legally required to carry ID? |
@ thursdaysd -- that's my new best plan! :-)

@thursdaysd
In such cases you can wear clothes with inner pockets, there are some inner products with hidden pockets are also available. It may protect. |
@jean - no thanks, I prefer a money belt (worn with the pouch at the back).
