Lookig for some lightweight luggage - preferably a combo of suitcase and a backpack - anything like that exist?

Here you go:
http://shop.mandarinaduck.com/us/isi..._B7V33001.html A bit heavier: http://www.ospreypacks.com/Packs/MeridianSeries Victorinox also makes some convertible bags. |
Er, no - you don't want a backpack with wheels - they weigh way too much!
If you're in the US visit your nearest REI store. Or check out Eagle Creek (eg http://www.eaglecreek.com/bags_lugga...ive-65L-10066/ - the straps zip out the way for flights) North Face may have something, too. |

The pack you recommend is less than 1 lb lighter than the Isi. I'm not saying that one should choose a backpack with wheels, but that is what I took the OP to mean, when they asked for a "suitcase and a backpack". |
I took "suitcase and a backpack" to mean a convertible backpack, which is what I use. You can still buy suitcases without wheels... Actually, when packing, I do care about every ounce.

I was picturing they wanted two pieces... say a 22" rolling suitcase and a day-pack in addition?
