Avrooster entertains

my wife and i were rewarded yesterday by being able to spend much of our day in the company of avrooster/alberto and his charming wife.....this was espcially nice as it was a national holiday in argentina and everything was closed up tighter than a drum....

alberto picked us up at the hilton about noon, took us on a quick looksee around BA and then we headed north about 40 miles to his pastoral abode.......their house is situated in a gated community, but not the normal american gated community with houses right on top of each other......here houses are scattered vasted apart from each other allowing for a real country feel to the place...think estates in greenwich, CT or similar community, but with normal american sized houses......many of the homes in his area are weekend getaways for the BA gentry....

teresa, his wife, greeted us at the door and was the perfect hostess for the rest of the afternoon.....she cooked a fantastic bbq lunch/dinner and made sure that our every need or want was more than satisfied....

a more perfect day could not have been asked for.....

fodorites are the best and the most welcoming people ever.....we even forgive those who read TA as well.....

if you have a chance to meet avrooster by all means do so.....he is a really nice guy with perfect english and even better spanish....
anyone who has ever written anything to the contrary is simply all wet!!!

a full report on our stay in SA will be posted in the next week

"BA gentry...."!!!! LOL!!!

I guess rhkkmk probably has a doctoral degree in sociology. LMAO!

I'm still not quite sure whether we had Karen & Bob for lunch or dinner, because, by the time we finished lunch, it was American dinner hours. More LOL!!!

I'm very much loking forward to that "full report"!

I had no idea that Rooster also offered Estancia tours, asados and horse back riding.

Rooster,
Please let us know if you offer only day excursions or over night trips too. And, is it BYOB?

Glad you all had a great time. Tengo.

avrooster May 2nd, 2009 02:44 PM

All this is your fault, rhkkmk!

Please set the record straight!

rhkkmk May 2nd, 2009 04:51 PM

mr avrooster is one who is often found wandering around in central BA.....its the only way you can reach him....it is hit or miss, but his info should you receive it is excellent...he is a wild liberal so you have to take that into consideration.....

all in jest!!

avrooster May 2nd, 2009 04:53 PM

tengohambre: I Googled BYOB. The answer is rhkkmk brought a great cake. All wineries were closed, due to our Labor Day.

rhkkmk May 2nd, 2009 04:54 PM

Said by the best independent guide in the NW of Argentina!

However, I would take her words about yours truly with several grains of salt added. LOL!!!

rhkkmk May 3rd, 2009 01:31 PM

for an argentine guy he is not bad....

have you seen his legs however.....he should not wear shorts in public.... haha

avrooster May 3rd, 2009 03:17 PM

I did not think rhkkmk would be interested in my legs.

It certainly makes you wonder. How come???????????

He seemed to be a nice guy....(for a US citizen, of course).

Just kidding. LOL!!!

tptr May 3rd, 2009 06:04 PM

Looks like the RHKKMK-AVG match is made in heaven! Would like to meet RHK & KMK. Have met AVG and DW and it was marvelous. It's almost summer in Minnesota........... and winter in BsAs..........c'mon up here AV.

avrooster May 3rd, 2009 09:48 PM

Thank you tptr, but maybe later, because right now it's our fall and the weather feels like early spring.

Besides, with such legs, I don't think I would be granted a visa. LOL!!!

rhkkmk May 4th, 2009 12:02 PM

avrooster just returned my sweater that i left in the remise the other nite on my way back to BA from his house....such a nice guy, especially as he had to cross a picket line of labor protest to do it...

after he left the demonstration sort of turned nasty as firecrackers were thrown in addition to tons of paper leaflets and lots of noise....at one point they broke through a baracade and the riot police advanced with battle gear on...there are water cannons here also and they don`´t seem to be backing off....

sort of glad we are going home tomorrow...

WillTravel May 4th, 2009 03:08 PM

R, I noticed thousands of paper leaflets near Florida and Lavalle one day. I didn't realize that throwing these all over the place is a common tactic. I wanted to be able to yell at someone for littering, or at least contact their mothers so they could yell at them. Where was this protest?

milla May 5th, 2009 04:59 AM

About Avrooster´s wife: lovely
About Avrooster: terribly nice, friendly, helpful, honest and also fun.
About his legs: cant say !!!!
