We did 2 canopy tours. The Safari was easy but then again I have no fear of heights. The other was with Hacienda Pozo Azul in Sarapiquis. This one was very different. The lines were longer, you picked up more speed, and had to stop yourself by pulling down on the cable (unlike Safari). I could not slow myself down. The guide happily did the fast lines with me sitting on his lap. I asked if I would be too heavy and he said that he had taken people over 200 lbs. across that way. I really enjoyed the ride and if you are afraid of heights that might help.

I forgot to mention a few things about Hacienda. We were the only ones on the tour. It is 2 hours (I was told) from Arenal. As for safety, not only did they have two hooks but they had double cables. If you like to horseback ride for short distances, you could opt to ride to the first platform as we did and that was included in the price.

I am planning a trip for my honeymoon and staying in Capitan suizo in Tarmindo and thinking of going to Arenal and staying in Paraiso and also at La Paz in early October - Can anyone recommend a canopy tour for those locations? A company?

On the Arenal Paraiso website, there is a canopy tour with lots of photos. 18 ziplines, 2 hours in duration, about $45. It says you need reservations, because space is limited. [email protected]
