Lots of good advice here, but the food precautions can be stated very simply and thus easily remembered: Cook it, peel it, or don�t eat it!<BR><BR>After a massive educational campaign, most hotels and restaurants now use purified water, even for the ice in your drink, and you don�t really have to ask in the better places.<BR><BR>And finally, just say no to buffets. You are more likely to get ill from food that has been sitting out at a 4-star hotel than from a taco that you can see cooked in front of you by a street vendor. <BR><BR>Some people swear by acidophilus or Pepto Bismol, but I say "A margarita a day keeps the trots away." For the poster who takes a prophylactic dose of Cipro daily, I have no complaint if you are truly in need of it because you have increased health risks, but otherwise you are doing your species a great disservice. Overuse of antibiotics breeds drug-resistant bacteria, and we should all be very, very afraid of that. When you need that Cipro, it might not be effective.<BR><BR>
