Snorkeling from hotel beach
 

My husband and I travel to Mexico once a year. We love the Huatulco area as it is not very commercialized and very beautiful. The only thing missing is that "good" snorkeling is not available from the resort area...it IS available a 20-minute cab ride away. Question: Can anyone recommend a location in QUIET place in Mexico in which good snorkeling is available right from the beach at the hotel? Any information such as location, hotel name, etc. is appreciated.

Twin Dolphins @ Los Cabos area,5 minute walk too long? Lotsa fish. Or make a day trip and go to Los Barrillos reef at the east cape of Baja, below La Paz.

Los Cabos would be the last place I would tell someone to go that is looking for a QUIET place in Mexico that is not very commercialized!

Hi Grace,<BR>Definitely Presidente Intercontintal in Cozumel. This was our 10th year of staying at the hotel.<BR>You can't find better snorkeling/diving<BR>anywhere in Mexico, and the beach there is gorgeous too.<BR>Hotel is right on the water, and they have ladders directly onto the reef from the beach. Lots to do and see, and some of the friendliest people on earth.

Grace,<BR>Also would suggest Playa del Carmen and Akumal. (Akumal is very quiet and laid back, and has better snorkeling.)<BR>Neither they nor Cozumel have what I would call a lot of commercialization, but Cozumel does get cruise ships, and downtown San Miguel is crazy when they are in. But there's a lot to do and see away from town.

Playa del Carmen (you take the boat to Cozumel from there) Xel-ha, Tulum and Coba ruins, and the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve starts just south of the Tulum ruins. We have wonderful cenotes to swim, snorkel or dive in and the beaches are great.
