I agree with missypie about the food at Claro que Si. The ceviche was good, but the rest was inedible and expensive.
Ronnies Place was far better, has a small selection, with more reasonable prices.
Karola's not bad, again a bit pricey.
We actually had a great meal on the beach outside MA Park for only $4.00..chicken or pork. Don't be afraid to try what the locals eat, I found it better than "hotel row"

Lisa from MA, what can you tell me about mango moon? I have read a few good reviews, but it isn't often mentioned here. Costa Verde and Hotel CA. seem to be mentioned most after SiComoNo. As a local, I wondered what you felt the advantages/disadvantages were to these places. Thanks for posting so often. This board has really helped me plan my trip.

The wood fired pizza at Pizza Napoli is good. As you leave Tulemar, thrun right. It's not very far away, on the left. Cafe Milagro has great sandwiches for lunch.

Barbara: Mango Moon is very nice and it's highly possible that the reason you don't see many posts is that it's only about 4 years old. Comparison on the four you listed is difficult as they all have their own personality but I'll do my best! Mango Moon is a B&B, more like a small boutique hotel. There is no onsite restaurant. It is located off the main road to the park. Si Como No is a resort type hotel. Adult only pool plus separate kid-friendly pool. On site spa, on site 50 person movie theatre, two restaurants. Centrally located on the road between Quepos and the park. Hotel California is closer to Quepos than the other three (and from the national park) but is located off the main road. (Many complain about road noise so I think this is good to mention?). On site pool and restaurant. Not as centrally location so walking to restaurants is less likely although cabs are plentiful and inexpensive. Costa Verde is located the closest to the national park of all four you mentioned. The restaurant gets consistent good reviews. So, it really depends on your travel style and needs. I hope this helps! Feel free to email if you'd like more info. Lisa

Nightread: Casitas Eclipse is right across the street from El Avion. La Cantina is also close by so you can walk to both those places. Ronnie's Place is down a long dirt road, so it's a bit of a drive from anywhere. Most of the other restaurants and hotels are spread along the long and windy hill from Quepos down to MA Park... generally better to drive than walk, but buses or taxis are easy to catch.

Another place I'd reccommend is Escondido, which is the restaurant at the Hotel Espadilla, down in town close to the park. If you hang a left at the Blue Marlin and walk down the street, it's the hotel at the end of the road. Very good food (although no view). I also enjoyed La Cantina and El Avion. A big highlight of El Avion is the view, though keep in mind that if you are eating after dark, you won't enjoy views anyway.
