Pisco Sours: Safe?
I keep reading that everyone loves the Pisco Sours...however, they're shaken with ice! How can this be safe? Please advise....I don t want to miss out on these!
|
We drank them everyday while in Peru -- in restaurants, not in "roadside stands." Had no problems and you're right not to miss them!

I have to be honest. Your concern has never occurred to me, and I've had my share of pisco sours in Peru, never with any problems. Um, I don't know what to say. I can only guess, like yestravel said above, that a good restaurant or bar makes its ice with purified water. Who knows, though? :)

When I read the title of this post I thought you were going to ask about the use of raw egg whites one of the constituent parts of the Pisco sour. This is not recommended by some doctors as there could be problem for some e.g. pregnant women/the elderly etc..

I never drank a Pisco sour in Peru for these very concerns. Everyone else in my group did and they didn't get sick. Now I'm sorry I misssed it. :-(

The only ones I had were in Chile with glacier ice
