Peru & Bolivia

We are planning a trip peru & bolivia for may of this year.

Wondering if anyone has tried driving from cusco to puno. or if anyone has suggestions of the best way to get from cusco to puno.

The best way to get from Cusco to Puno is by bus, on a tour which will take one day and have interesting breaks during the trip. Contact Milla Tourismo in Cusco for information on this particular trip. I would not drive it myself. I will try and get the Milla Tourismo website for you because the owner of that agency is a wonderful travel agent and I have dealt with him on a number of occasions and stayed at his B&B next door to the Agency which is exceptionally good.

Here is their website and if you click the accommodation link you will find their B&B as well. Very clean, spacious and well run. I stayed in the downstairs room at Los Pardo. All my trips and tours in Peru were organized by them and I was more than happy with their help.

I'm not sure if you know about the train journey on orient express, does it in 10 hours, a lovely way to do it.

I know this wasn't your question, but if you are American be advised as of December 2007 we are now required to get a visa in advance for entry to Bolivia. If you are not American, you probably don't need one.
