We love Amazing Race too. There are actual travel related challenges involved, not to mention the physical challenges. Any one can eat a bug. And the puzzle problem from the other night - direct ripoff of another now lame show called Survivor.

The "celebrities" get paid $80,000 per episode for this show, so they have a lot of incentive to stick around.

Oh they do? I thought it was strictly for charity. And here I was thinking how good-hearted they were!

The celebrities get paid for being there. The charities will benefit if they win. That's why (former) Gov. Blago was so anxious to get on the cast. Legal bills, ya' know. And a sudden lack of friends in Illinois.

Seriously? Selva Verde? Pobrecitos!!! That place is a luxury resort - is that supposed to be some sort of hardship? I'd love to see them come stay in my (basic, cement w/ mesh windows) house on the edge of the jungle, and hike with me 10km out into the rainforest - as I will be doing tomorrow - dodging terciopelos and bullet ants!

I live here in Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui and I ran into the crew last night, they're staying at 2 nearby hotels: Sueno Azul and Ara Ambigua. So stamfam - yes, they really are filming it here in Sarapiqui.

Also, it can stay pretty darn close to 97 degrees at night - certainly in the 90s, and it was like that last week (a little cooler now b/c of the rain - it's in the 80s). It's extremely humid here, and we're far inland from the ocean, so the temperature is not as variable between night and day as it is over in, say, Guanacaste. The coldest it's ever been here in the past 14 months I've lived here was about 69 degrees - and we were all bundled up in sweaters, scarves, and wool hats, believe it or not!
