Yea, I think most people end up wishing they had more time. You can't see and do it all in one trip even though it's a small country. We've been going just about every year for over ten years, and we still have more to see.

Your advice has been great, I've picked up some good logistics tips too!

I saw that you said "try to arrive early and leave late" at the airports

Is 3 PM "too late" to arrive and also make your final destination (lodging near Arenal)? I don't have a place to stay yet, I'm just thinking of your advice to visit two places, Arenal and Manuel Antonio. I figure I will find lodging near both places and those will be my gateways to and from the airport.

@flygirl- many told me my 1:30 arrival would be cutting it close for me to drive there safely before dark so I booked Xandari for the first night.

A 3:00 p.m. arrival would most likely put you into the Arenal area in the dark, something I wouldn't want to do if I were driving. It would be okay with a private driver. Things just aren't very well marked in CR, and it gets dark early. It's about three hours from SJO to La Fortuna.
