Thanks for a great report. I enjoyed visiting Puebla in 2016 and 2018. In 2016, I had planned only an overnight in Puebla, which ended up being 6 nights as I had to reconfigure plans since road blockades had made a scheduled stop in Oaxaca impossible. Little did I know that the unexpected change of plans would expose me to such a historic, culinary and cosmopolitan gem where I had allotted far too little time. So glad you got to see the city for yourself.

Adding a few more photos. Sorry, I realize they are huge if viewed on a computer, but hopefully most of you are on the mobile site. It's just too much trouble to resize everything.

Yes, they are lovely. And at least on my laptop and my browser they're not humongous.

That's good, Leely2.

In retrospect I sort of wish I had duplicated Daniel's experience of not being able to get to Oaxaca and spent at least two more nights in Puebla. I'd also consider staying next time to the east of the center, somewhere like Casareyna now that I know where it is. (Although glad to have been in the historic core this time and the hotel recommended by crellston was fine).

Mlgb—

I absolutely loved your pictures of the Centro in Puebla. I was particularly enamoured of the colours and glow in the fountain photo at the Zocalo.

Personally, I wish I had been able to go to Oaxaca like you had. You learned at least from your trip that you preferred your experience in Puebla over Oaxaca. I’m certainly happy I’ve opened my mind to dynamic and handsome Puebla (and nearby Cholula!) and am glad I didn’t short-change the city as originally planned but Oaxaca for me still remains a mystery. Would I like the city? Love it? Think meh? Be glad to leave? I have yet to know. Maybe some day, but there are other places that call also.

Thanks again for your report!
