More hotels: Las Golondrinas and Hotel Azucenas are around $48.50 US and a big step up from Casa de La Tia. I used to stay there regularily but when times got hard a few years back they lost the cleaning lady they had and it is nowhere as clean as it used to be. Hotel Aitana on Crespo is another and includes breakfast, downside is that it is a very busy street. There are also lots of less tourist oriented hotel as you radiate out from the Zocalo the are more used by Mexico folk that are just fine and a bit cheaper than the above. Have fun! Hotel Las Rosas on Trujano 112 is ideal location. Around the corner from the plaza. Block to the market. There are two hotels in town by the same name... not related so be sure you get the correct one. On the same street within a block is the best place to try high end mole. Illeana de la Vega has elegant creations every night.

I had a divine mole over fried eggs and nopales for breakfast yesterday. I am in Playa del Carmen now at our condo, and we walked to a place close to our condo for breakfast. I talked to the cook, who was from Oaxaca and she told me her mother taught her to make the mole she put over my breakfast. It was extraordinary. I am not a big fan of mole over chicken but this was great over the eggs and nopales.

I love Mexico, always surprising and the food is so darned good.
