Well... we went and this is what we did.
Arrived in Zurich around 7:30 am, after a direct flight from Atlanta, GA. We walked a short distance to the train station in the airport and caught the first available train to Lucerne. These trains run apporximately every hour on business days. We were in Lucerne on the lake front by about 10:00 a.m. with roll suitcases in tow. Stopped for a nice cappucino on the lakeside and headed to the NH hotel about 12 minutes walking away. This hotel is a very short two blocks from the LION of LUCERNE. Checked in but the room was not ready yet and then they offered to lend us ther bikes. So being refreshed by the walk and the coffee we rode bikes all over the little town. It was so quaint. By high noon we were at the wall surrounding the old city and went up one of the towers only to hear all the church bells strike thier noon hour from up above. It was breath taking.
Spent the rest of the afternoon wondering and slowly riding our bikes, got a quick lunch and a fondue place in the old town section and then dessert from a bakery.... they closed just after we walked in. Made it back to the hotel and went to bed around 7:00pm.
Slept till about 5:00 am got a wonderful continental breakfast and went back to town. This time we inquired about Europecar and rented a cabriole for 87 swiss francs. So we rented it, came back to the hotel, checked out and went driving to Andermatt. This was breathtaking. The roads were wonderful and the flower boxes on all the chalettes were overflowing with geraniums. Lunch in downtown Andermatt with the snow capped mountains in the background.
Drove to Interlocken by back roads and had the company of cows and cowbells all the way. Walked around in Iterlocken and got hungry for lake fish and went to Brienz. Had the most wonderful fish dinner here and thought it would be a perfect place to spend the night. THere are tons of bed/breakfast inns along the route. Woke up to a beatuiful Swiss Fall morning, made our way slowly to Lucerne, and turned in the car. Caught the train back to Zurrich. Had dinner on the Banhoff Strasse amongst very expesive stores. Made a quick trip around the lake in Zurrich and cought the bus back to the Swiss hotel. NExt morning we were on the subway back to the airport, caught my flight home.

It was the most dreamy 3 day weekend with my husband.

Sounds like it was amazing!

But you didn't tell us about all of the jewelry you bought! ;)

Sounds perfect! Renting a convertible is a wonderful idea! By taking the back roads, does that mean you went over a few passes?

Thanks for the report!
