Another vote for Cingiale Bianco. It's "across the PV"; turn right onto Borgo Jacopo, which is parallel to the Arno.

another vote for the Yellow Bar....which indeed is just the name...it is a lovely restaurant recommended highly by locals and it did not disappoint. They have this pasta lady out front near the window hand making the pasta in full view of the street.
wonderfullllll

One of my favorites; a fairly long walk south of the river, near Piazza Tasso.

While in the past we have loved Giostra and 4 Leoni, this time, three weeks ago, our number one favorite was Trattoria Pandemonio. Not far from Santo Spirito, on the Oltrarno, this restaurant has some of the best food we have eaten in Florence. The owners are pleasant and friendly, the atmosphere is warm and very pretty, and I am still thinking about our Pasta with Fresh Tomatoes and Artichokes....at the same price point as Giostra..

Two votes, one for La Giostra, the other for Il Cibreo which is extreme in its dedication to traditional tuscan food (meat heavy, try the raw but cured salsiccia primi).

We really enjoyed our dinner at Cantinetta Antinori in Florence. Excellent food and perfect service.

Lot's of great choices here. Be careful of La Giostra. Love Fratellini for a quick snack before Uffizi and Mamma Gina and Celestino...bravo!

I'll third for Quattro Leoni. Absolutely delicious fun place but make sure you have a reservation especially on the weekend. The food was delicious from the primi to the dessert, complimentary apertivo. Service was excellent. About 70 E w/ drinks

For lunch, we really enjoyed the view of the Duomo from a restaurant on the rooftop of a nice little ‘department’ store. It’s called Ristorante Ottorino, via delle Oche, 12-16r.

For dinner, my favorite place was Trattoria Garga on Via del Moro 48/R, phone 055 2398898. We had an amazing meal there, probably my best in Italy. My dish was veal with avocado, which sounds odd (most really good dishes do, I think), and was mouth-watering. Our waiter was a riot-- singing and joking all over the restaurant. It was a friendly, lively, bustling atmosphere with excellent food. We paid 81EUR for two, with a half-liter of house wine.

One more vote for Quattro Leoni. The fioccheti (sp?) with pear and cheese was really wonderful. Very good service, also.

Here are our favorite restaurants in Florence:

(I know...so many great restaurants, so little time)

1. Trattoria Sostanza -- this is one of our all time favorites. Consistently fantastic -- we’ve eaten dinner here five times.

2. Osteria Del Cinghialia Bianco (The White Boar) -- this is my new favorite. We ate here twice, and were blown away each time.

3. Trattoria Mario -- they only serve lunch. Limited menu and simple dishes, but beyond belief flavor. Always crowded, but it doesn't take long to get a table.

4. Osteria L’Antico Noi -- bar none the best sandwiches we have ever had in our lives.
