I got mine in Norway two days ago. Completly intact, and also recovered from the jet lag. <BR>I'll not keep it long, though. The pin maniacs among my collegues already has started outbidding each other. So far around 500 USD.... <BR>Bjorn, Oslo

Judy May 30th, 2001 03:54 AM

Bjorn, really? Is that true? WOW! <BR>I like the design so much, I was thinking of getting a charm or slide made to look like it. MMMMmmm very interesting. Judy ;-)

Lisa May 30th, 2001 04:39 AM

I got it! I got it! The envelope had a hole, but still had the pin inside and had 2 postmarks. The post office had placed it inside another envelope with a "sincere apology for the enclosed document that was inadevertently damaged in handling by your Postal Service." They continue <BR>"We are aware how important your mail is to you" (they have no idea!!) etc etc etc for 4 more paragraphs. <BR> <BR>Fodor's you have some 'splaining to do to the Post Office. <BR> <BR>It actually is a really nice pin and Art I feel bad for you. Thanks Fodors. It really is good advertising though. Youll have to have a second edition. <BR> <BR>My husband thinks I am really weird and cannot believe I am going to walk around with it. It scares me to think that he is right and I am now an official pin-carrying member of a dubious fraternity and am now advertising to the world that I spend half my life on an internet forum. <BR> <BR>The other interesting question (besides the one about when and where did I exactly lose my sanity) is with 500 pins produced (and possibly 10 to 15 % of them lost) is how many sightings there will actually be. Hmm, 6 billion people in the world, 425 pins.... <BR> <BR>We'll have to have a "sightings site".

Got It (with a hole in the envelope)! And many thanks to Fodors. Hmmm, will I wear it?

carolyn May 30th, 2001 06:11 AM

NO000!!!!!!!!!! I got a holey envelope; no pin.

s.fowler May 30th, 2001 06:36 AM

Well I think mine has been eaten by the trolls in the Chicago postal system:( At this rate I'll see neither the pin nor an empty envelope with a hole. But if it does arrive [the envelope] it will certainly be like Lisa's :(

liz May 30th, 2001 06:41 AM

Still nothing in Vancouver! I think I will stop holding my breath now!

Holly May 30th, 2001 06:44 AM

Envelope with a big hole in it arrived in Reno yesterday. No pin...

pam May 30th, 2001 07:06 AM

Got mangled envelope with pin still inside. Thank you, Fodor's.

Larry May 30th, 2001 08:07 AM

It arrived!! <BR>I will proudly where mine on my day bag every day this summer. If you see me in France this June, be bold; say Hi. <BR> <BR>Larry

Received the empty Fodors envelope today - inside the USPS envelope used for identifying (and apologizing for) damaged mail. The Fodors envelope had two postmarks...the first, May 21, NY; the second, May 24, also NY. I guess this means the envelope didn't make it outside NY...and my guess is there is a postal facility in NY with many pins on the floor! <BR> <BR>Could someone scan a picture of their pin and post it here? At least then I'd know what I missed! <BR> <BR>I'm sad in North Carolina!

dan woodlief May 30th, 2001 10:47 AM

Got mine in North Carolina last Friday. My wife got to the mail before I saw it. She said there was a small hole in the envelope, but the pin looked fine. I too am of the group that wonders if I will actually wear it that often when abroad. I will probably try to find some way to attach it to my camera bag (which is usually with me) without punching a hole in it.

karen May 30th, 2001 11:46 AM

Count me as another recipient of the envelope with a hole and NO PIN. Couldn't believe someone thought to mail it that way...

Rex May 30th, 2001 11:47 AM

Here you go, Kathy - - <BR> <BR>"my" Fodor's logo ribbon pin - - the "original"... <BR> <BR>http://www.geocities.com/rexbickers/LogoPin.htm <BR> <BR>"their" pin... <BR> <BR>http://www.geocities.com/rexbickers/FodorsPin.htm <BR> <BR>and both pins, side by side... <BR> <BR>http://www.geocities.com/rexbickers/BothPins.htm <BR> <BR>Best wishes, <BR> <BR>Rex <BR>

Diane May 30th, 2001 12:44 PM

Got mine in the mail yesterday. A small hole in the envelope, but the pin is not damaged. Also had two postmarks, May 21 and May 24 from NY. <BR> <BR>Art, I believe I will be home before you leave. You may borrow mine for your trip.

Linda May 30th, 2001 01:01 PM

Received my totally damaged, empty envelope today. I was not one of the lucky ones.

Kavey May 30th, 2001 01:24 PM

Got mine in the UK yesterday, not even a hole in the envelope. <BR> <BR>I know this is easy for me to say having got a pin, but I think it is a little rude to slag off fodors for using cheap envelopes when sending out a COMPLIMENTARY gift, at a time when budgets are being cut to the extent of redundancies. <BR> <BR>It was possible the case that the pins were commissioned, then the redundancies announced, and then a decision made to send them out anyway but to minimise costs as much as possible. <BR> <BR>However it might be worth them finding out how many people would be willing to pay $5 dollars to buy one and cover costs and postage? <BR> <BR>Just an idea... <BR> <BR>I dont think I will wear mine on safari in June but will wear it in SF in July. <BR> <BR>Kavey

Tracy May 30th, 2001 02:00 PM

No pin in the Atlanta 'burbs yet, either! <BR> <BR>:-((((

Lisa May 30th, 2001 02:10 PM

Well, that was a shortlived pin. I stuck it on the strap of my bag and the back fell off. Luckily, I mangaed to find thepinthat had dropped off. Imagine surviving the rigors of psotal delivery only to be lost again.

Joy May 30th, 2001 02:16 PM

I didn't even receive a torn envelop and I was one of the first to sign up. Thanks to you Rex, for the photos. I think I can fashion a reasonable facsimile--at least make it recognizable to fellow Fodorites
