Can you keep Spain and trade in the wife?

We are going home today after spending two weeks in Turkey - Istanbul, Cappadocia, Ephesus and the Aegean coast. We've had a fabulous trip and can't imagine anyplace better. We met another couple and they are on their 7th visit and plan more.

Agree completely with the recommendations for Turkey! It has it all -- Istanbul is an amazing city, with many, many remarkable sites. Cappadocia is like no other place in this world -- your 6 year old would probably love this region, staying in a cave hotel and seeing the remarkable landscape of "fairy chimneys". The Aegean coast is beautiful -- there are wonderful Roman ruins dotted along the coast, options to take a small boat ride to view underwater ruins, as well as beautiful coastal vistas. And of course Ephesus -- we also took a great day trip to visit several other Roman ruin sites (our favorite was Didyma) from Selcuk, where we stayed.

I think a 6 year old would be fascinated by Turkey!

I haven't been to Croatia but am looking for a change from Greece (which I adore) and everyone I meet who have been to Croatia, raves about it. Worth your consideration. I would consider Greece above Turkey.

I think your wife should decide.

Spain is like several countries in one. Variety is the spice of life. Stick to your guns. Cádiz and Donostia are two different planets. Tortilla de camarones and bacalao al pil-pil. Worlds apart but equally delicious. Heard nothing but positive things about Croatia.

I vote for Turkey as well for something completely different, historic and fascinating.

"but she wants a change" I think southern Turkey would work if she wants something different.

You could sent her on her way and spend the time in Cádiz enjoying the peace and quiet with lunch at El Balandro (www.restaurantebalandro.com) and El Faro de Cádiz (www.elfarodecadiz.com), two of my favorites in the city.
