Leaving 3 weeks from Friday for Naples and the coast

No wonder Italy gets so crowded. It's full of Fodorites! We're in Rome, Venice, Tuscany May 12th to 30th. First trip to Italy. I've wanted to go all my life and it's taken me 48 years to get there. We were booked to go last May but my mother-in-law died in May and we cancelled. It's a belated 25th wedding anniversay gift to ourselves!

We should have a gtg in Rome. Now if we could figure out when???

wanderlust5 Apr 27th, 2005 02:54 PM

I think a GTG in Rome would be great! I am there May 14-17th with my husband. Anyone else?

TexasAggie Apr 27th, 2005 02:54 PM

We will be in Rome May 24th but our schedule is pretty tight...

If anyone organizes a GTG though, post it here before May 13th (when we depart), and we will try to make it!

jujubean Apr 27th, 2005 03:13 PM

leaving in 12 days for Rome!

ahotpoet Apr 27th, 2005 05:09 PM

I was hoping for a gtg on the 18 or 19th since I will be flying home from Rome on the 20th

suehoff Apr 27th, 2005 05:17 PM

A GTG, wow I wonder if I am fodorized enough? However we will be in Rome 5/19 to 5/24.
PS: early in my Fodor-lurking stages I kept asking my daughter what things like IMO meant, she told me authoritatively that GTG was "good to go", WELL I guess I am smarter than she is (or more of a lurker....)

Not to worry, I am kinda new around here myself. So what do you think about having dinner at L'Orso 80 on the 19th? It is very well reviewed here on Fodors. Anybody else wanna come?

Dejais Apr 27th, 2005 05:49 PM

Totally laughing now because we will be in Rome on the 19th and probably having lunch or dinner at L'Orso 80. It's penciled in on our list of things to do!

ahotpoet Apr 27th, 2005 05:52 PM

Dejais! Cool! So make it dinner. Wow This could be a blast!!!

At first I thought gtg meant good to go because whenever it comes to travel I am "good2go" :-d

we will be in Venice the same time as you and we are from the Seattle area and so very familiar with Rick Steves. I'm sure you will have a great time. What district will you be staying in? We love the Dorsodora area.

We leave May 10 for Pisa, Lucca and Florence. May 14 in Umbria for a week, Naples to Palermo on the ferry May 21, Palermo to Enna Sicily ( my husband's father's hometown) 2 days in Giardini Naxos. Back to Salerno and Maiori. Fly out of Naples to Dublin for 2 nights. Train to Galway, rented car south for 1 week. Shannon to London for 2 days. Home to The O.C.

suehoff Apr 28th, 2005 06:35 AM

hotpoet-sounds good to me, maybe even newbies can plan gtg, so I guess we maybe are good to go, right? should we have a secret handshake or password arranged?

Dejais Apr 28th, 2005 06:54 AM

suehoof and hotpoet....everyone should wear a red hat. hee hee

Okay, I give up...what is "gtg"?

wliwl Apr 28th, 2005 08:21 AM

Oh my gosh I can't wait.

OReilly Apr 28th, 2005 08:29 AM

I was so inspired reading "boungiorno's" trip report on Umbria, I am starting to plan a weekend there in mid-May!

regards Ger

Dejais: GTG=get together

ahotpoet Apr 28th, 2005 09:37 AM

Dejais and suehoff
And purple dresses!
GTG can be our secret password!
Actually it means "get together"
We should probably make a reservation! I can arrange that since I arrive Rome on Tuesday before my bike tour. What time? And how many? You can email me at [email protected]
Will any of you be checking email on the road?
