Who will be in Italy in May?
 

Just reading different threads, it is amazing how many Fodorites are going to Italy in May! I'll be there mid-May, myself, and cannot wait.

Just thought it would be fun to see everyone on one thread...so who else is going??

I'll be there the first two weeks of May! I'm flying into Rome, spending just one day there, 7 days in Florence and 3 in Venice. There will be a side trip to Siena, Fiesole, and perhaps Padua. This is my first trip to Italy and a solo trip at that! After reading a few Italy posts, I already know I'll be returning and spending more time in Rome and exploring the other wonderful regions of the country. This is my Introduction to Italy trip!

Buon giorno! I'm going to Italy, too. Leaving May 19. Will be following my son's college choir on their performance tour. We'll be based in Florence for a week with side trips to Pisa, Lucca, Siena, Prato, then one night in Verona (with tickets to the Teatro Filarmonico to hear an orchestra & local choir), then to Venice for 3 nights, then to Rome for 4 full days. Our first trip to Italy, too. We'll have to share reports when we return. Have fun!

Flyin Rome 3 day trips(21 hour layover) on May 23rd and May 29th-remember..........I will be watching you on the plane!

My fiance and I will be in Italy May 13-20. We can't wait either...he's never been and I haven't been back since I was 16.

I will be in Italy from May 21 to June 6: Venice, Lake Como, Florence, Cinque Terre, Tuscany and Rome. My first time and I can't wait!!!

US AIR starts direct flights from Philly to Venice mid May thru October, so we are going to Venice May 15 for 6 nights. My 4th trip to Italy. We were in Venice in 2005 for 2 nights on a 15 day trip and just had to get back there.

Yeah! Our first trip to Italy begins in May. DH, DD, and I will be in Rome, the CT, and Venice begining May 26! I am so excited, I can't stand it!

High school graduation trip for my niece (and we let her mom come along)

I am taking my Mom to Italy - we leave in a little over a week from now! Lake Como, Venice, Florence, Val d'Orcia, Rome.

My daughtere and I will be in Rome May 6-8,9-10 Sorrento,11 Assisi, Florence, 12-14, 15-17 Venice. We were in Rome a week Jan. 2005 and knew I wanted to get back to other parts of Italy. Sure after this trip I will want to be in other places more,but will decide which places I would like to spend a longer time.

My husband and I are leving on Wednesday, 5/2, arriving in Roma. We will spend three days on Isola Ischia, then head north with one night in Bologna.

After Bologna, six days in Stresa (Lago Maggiore) and we fly home out of Milano.

We are dependent on the weather with these locations and I hope Italia delivers!

I will be in Santa Margherita Ligure on May 28-June 1. We will be coming from Nice.

My DD and I will be going to Venice and Rome (Our first trip to Europe!)the third and fourth week of May! We are SO excited and have learned so much useful info here from fellow fodorites :)

May 28th thru June 4th.
Lake Como (4 days) then Venice (2 days).

I'll be staying in Umbria 5/12-19 and the Val D'Orcia 5/20-27. Yum!

We will be there May 17-29, Rome, Sorrento, Florence, Venice and Bellagio. The two girls have been to Europe but not Italy and the guys have never been to Europe at all. We can't wait!!

DH and I are leaving on May 3rd! for 10 days to Rome, Florence & Venice - our first time!

My wife and I are flying to Rome on the 7th and returning on the 24th. Our only side trips will be to Ostia Antica and Tivoli. This will be my third trip to Rome and her fourth, and we haven't come close to running out of things to do.

Leaving May 3rd too! Can't wait. Ants in the pants and all! We cannot believe our trip is already here.

Flying into Rome on May 27!! Rome, Assisi, Florence (S.G.), Pisa, CT, and Switzerland

We will be in Italy from May 11-26th. First trip to Italy and we are getting very excited!!!!

Will be flying out of the US on May 26th, arriving in Rome on the 27th. My gentleman and I will be there until we fly back to the US on June 3rd.

Second trip to Italy...went in 2001 to Florence and Venice. First time to Rome. Have my confirmation email for the Scavi tour. Otherwise...it's all up in the air as to what we do while there but I'm reading like mad and can't wait.

Wow!! Busy month in Italy! We leave on May 25-June 6th into Venice and home from Rome! I am just reviewing my clothes for the trip now (I know I still have almost 4 weeks-but I am so excited!)

I am so excited because we leave 3 weeks from today. We will be in Venice May 22-24 and CT from 24-27. We haven't been in 11 years, and I can't wait!

All you May travelers have a wonderful trip! I am envious....we don't leave until June 15.

We were just there in September/October for our honeymoon and are now expecting our first, so we thought we'd better return for one last hurrah before the baby arrives!

I'm jealous, jealous, jealous!
We're planning a trip for May 2008 when DS1 graduates from college. So it will have to be the end of May, with the 4 of us.

One question, how do you decide where to go? I'm swamped with choices. I can't possibly do everything I want to in 2 weeks.

I don't want to spend all my time on trains and in airports.
When we spent 2 weeks in Japan last year, we focused on 3 locations and that was about right for us.

This will be the first mainland Europe trip for all of us. So, how did YOU decide?

Posted in the lounge but want to cover all my bases...anyone wish to share last minute checklists? I phoned the CC companies today, made copies of PP and CC...pill boxes filled, ..taking long pants? How many shoes? what else?

We're leaving on May 17th. Flying to Venice. Spend 4 nights there then renting a car and driving to the Lake Cumo area. We'll fly home from Milan.

Perhaps there should be a get together in Italy!

We're normally May travellers but had to push back our trip this year. We'll be in Italy for the second week of June. Hope all of you May travellers have a wonderful trip!

Woohoo!! Italy! I'll be in Florence on May 12th (5 days) and in Rome on May 17th (4 days!) and all SOLO :)
