Thanks Guenmai, maybe you could help me, my family (husband and 2 y/o son)is planning to travel to paris on first week of september or october for 6 days and im still zero where to get a ticket and where is the best place to stay... hotel or apt rentals, i am thinking of getting an apt rentals but im kinda worried if its ok for if i have 2 y/o baby to stay in an apt rentals havent tried it before, any suggestions and recommendation? thank you so much.

You'd have more space in an apartment. Plus, you'd save a lot of money on food by being able to prepare at least some meals at the apartment. You'd have to just ask the owner if it's ok to have a two-year old at his/her apartment. Happy Travels!

nj05047 - We always get our tickets through Orbitz. IMO they always have the best deals. We rented through parisbestlodge and it was so easy. You would love having your own apartment with a baby. Things would be easier and as guenmai mentioned, you could save money as you would have your own kitchen to prepare foods. You might want to start your own thread as this one is kind of old and people might not respond to you as well as if you have your own new thread. Good luck planning - that is half of the fun.

yellow and guanmai i finally got an apt its in 7th, rue augereau, i'm kinda close to eiffel tower.. im now trying to organize all the possible area we want to visit, btw hows the metro works? can i buy tickets online? is it for the whole day or or one use only? from the airport is it worth to pay 50eur for the shuttle than to take the metro or whatsoever? thanks for your help guys.

I thought about taking the metro from the airport and am SO happy that we didn't. It would have been tough going up and down the stairs and getting on and off with luggage, at least in my opinion. We just flagged down a taxi because we had gotten the dates wrong when we booked the shuttle. The taxi was under 50 euros so I was happy. Plus, it took us right to our door. We bought a metro pass that you can use for several days - I think you can buy them for a different number of days. We bought ours right in a metro station.

From the airport to central Paris, I've done taxi, RER, and shuttle throughout the decades.
Last month, I paid 50 Euros to take a taxi form the airport to the 10th district which is closer than the 7th to the airport. It was on a Wednesday, at around 6-6:30PM.

Last spring, I took the shuttle service. airport-connection.com. That shuttle service was fine. I had no problems. You pay for the service, on the computer, and pay with either Visa or Mastercard and then you don't have to worry about paying the driver or anything. At least with the shuttle, if you get stuck in traffic, you won't have to worry about the price as there's no ticking meter.

As for a metro/bus pass, there's the Paris Visite which can be bought for a different number of days. It's overpriced. Just get the Navigo Decouverte pass which is good for a week for metro/bus.

You'll need a photo and a pair of scissors to cut the photo down to the size to fit the pass. It's 5 Euros for the pass and 16,80 for a week of use for Zones 1 and 2. I've never needed a pass for more than Zones 1 and 2. This pass recently replaced the Carte Orange which I had had since the 70s or 80s.

There's tons of info on the Navigo Decouverte pass, just type it in the SEARCH box. Also on the tripadvisor.com forum, they've discussed that one to death,too. The question is asked a lot.

Just buy the pass at a metro station from the ticket agent. It's valid from Monday to Sunday and Wednesday is the last day it can be bought if you want to use it in that same week. For example, if you arrive into Paris on a Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday and buy the pass, then it will be valid starting the following Monday and for a week. I usually arrive on a Saturday, so I buy the pass on Saturday or Sunday, but it's not valid until Monday. For Saturday or Sunday, I either walk or use individual metro tickets to get around if I have to go somewhere. Then Monday, when it becomes valid, I start using it full time for getting around.
