Where would you go back too?

Of all the places you have been to, if you could go back to only one destination where would that be?

gomiki Jan 15th, 2006 05:09 PM

Paris, always Paris. But I went to Venice last May and did not see enough. So, if I had only one last place it would still be Paris but by way of Venice. Does that work for your question :)

Margaretlb Jan 15th, 2006 05:21 PM

Gomiki, I couldn't have said it better myself (only for me, Venice was last November)!

indytravel Jan 15th, 2006 05:24 PM

Lyon, France. I like food. A lot. :-)

escargot Jan 15th, 2006 07:04 PM

New Zealand

StCirq Jan 15th, 2006 07:10 PM

Well, obviously the Dordogne...have roots there now, but I'd go back to Lyon, too. My first trip there was last August and it really whetted my appetite, so to speak.

And Venice...been there twice, could go back a hundred times.

And Morocco...love that country.

OOOps, I see you said only one. Well, then, the Dordogne........

Pausanias Jan 15th, 2006 07:17 PM

Rome or Paris. Please don't ask me to choose. OK, Rome. Or maybe Paris . . .

daisy58 Jan 15th, 2006 08:03 PM

Paris is far and above my fav-I have been there twice..told hubby if we ever win the lottery, I want to buy an
apartment in Paris. But then, this year will be my 1st trip to Italy..so
things could change!

diddl_maus Jan 15th, 2006 08:10 PM

Venice. The first time I was there I was a silly teenager and was too timid to explore. The second time I had only one day there and 65 children to chase after. Definitely Venice with lots of time to explore.

degas Jan 15th, 2006 08:11 PM

Paris.

dmelo1 Jan 15th, 2006 08:29 PM

-Dubrovnik
=Prague
=Austraila
=Paris
-Italy

kakalena Jan 15th, 2006 08:32 PM

May I have all of Italy but lots of runners-up?

tod Jan 15th, 2006 08:35 PM

PARIS - Or as little Fiona says it, Pehwis! (Tarte Tatin)

brotherleelove2004 Jan 15th, 2006 09:11 PM

Santorini, over and over and over and over and over and.........

RufusTFirefly Jan 16th, 2006 09:36 AM

Venice. I think I must have lived there in a prior incarnation.

Elena Jan 16th, 2006 09:57 AM

Berner Oberland

pat Jan 16th, 2006 10:13 AM

Anywhere in Italy!

mike_b12 Jan 16th, 2006 11:08 AM

My own choice like many others would be Paris or Venice.

valtor Jan 16th, 2006 12:45 PM

Paris
Budapest
Rome (because 7 day were not enough to visit all I wanted)
New York
Las Vegas

Truffles Jan 16th, 2006 12:47 PM

Florence...followed really closely by Paris..

julies Jan 16th, 2006 05:52 PM

Budapest--been there twice
Krakow--been there twice
Brittany--been there twice
Seville--only once but would love to go again for Santa Semana

julies Jan 16th, 2006 05:55 PM

Romania--if you want a taste of what Europe was like prior to WWII, go to the more remote parts of Romania right now before it changes too much

Budapest--been there twice

Krakow--been there twice

Brittany--been there twice

Seville--only once but would love to go again for Santa Semana (Holy Week)

Sorry I didn't stick to the rules, but I would like to have people realize that there are many more places of interest than just Venice & Paris.

gertie3751 Jan 16th, 2006 05:58 PM

Crete,Crete and Crete. Don't know how many times I've been, I always want to go back.

cmt Jan 16th, 2006 06:26 PM

Sicily

But also Greece, central Italy (Tuscany and Umbria regions), Venice, Turkey, Basilicata, the Dordogne, Provence, Yosemite which I saw for only a few hours, and St. John in the USVI

mike_b12 Jan 17th, 2006 03:57 PM

True,
There is Prague.

AJAbbott Jan 17th, 2006 04:15 PM

Only one? Well -- I guess it would have to be Scotland. When I arrived there the first time, it was like returning home! The country is so beautiful and the people are so gracious. I love it. Ireland is a close second, and Paris and Italy close behind.

offwego Jan 17th, 2006 04:16 PM

Croatia

SusanEva Jan 17th, 2006 07:31 PM

Rome.

Pegontheroad Jan 17th, 2006 08:16 PM

The most nearly perfect travel day I've ever had was in the late 60's in Delphi.

However, I know I can never go back and would never try. I was young, adventurous, with congenial friends; the weather was perfect. Delphi was glorious. It was a wonderful day! But...as Thomas Wolfe says "You can't go home...or to Delphi...again." (Or did he add the part about Delphi?)

amyb Jan 18th, 2006 07:56 AM

Tuscany. Lost on a tiny back road on my bike amongst the hills, poppies and cypress trees. Heavenly!

SuzieC Jan 18th, 2006 08:07 AM

I'm for Paris...I'm for buying my own apartment and living there "for the appropriate span of time"... and then come home.
Been to Venice, Rome, Florence, Milan, Athans, the islands... of course, I was 15 and that was in the '60s...but there is no "call" to my soul. Maybe Venice, now.

Karenr_1 Jan 18th, 2006 04:56 PM

ITALY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ahayes Jan 18th, 2006 05:07 PM

Edinburgh - I loved the charm of that city centered around the medieval castle.

Midnightsun Jan 18th, 2006 05:19 PM

Help! I'd go back to just about anyplace I've ever traveled. However for peace, charm, and beauty, it would be a toss-up between Reine in the Lofoten Islands of Norway and Casole d'Else in Tuscany...much better food in Casole though.

OneWanderingJew Jan 18th, 2006 05:37 PM

I've never met a vacation that I didn't like so this is like asking me to pick my most favorite food or outfit--all depends on the mood I'm in.

As far as fave countries, Italy and Australia are right up there but so completely different that it's impossible to compare...buy me a ticket to either and I'll have my bag packed in a half hour!!

lilminkey Jan 18th, 2006 05:43 PM

Bellagio,Italy wonderful in every way.

lilminkey Jan 18th, 2006 05:45 PM

Bellagio,Italy wonderful in every way. With Positano clipping at its heels..

Wekiva Jan 18th, 2006 05:57 PM

I'll second Berner Oberland

Syl Jan 18th, 2006 06:16 PM

1)The Great Barrier Reef in Australia
2)Crete
3)Amalfi Coast & Capri
& looking forward to upcoming Croatia which I'm sure will be glorious as well.

lizkn Jan 18th, 2006 06:34 PM

Venice. I expected the worst of touristy times but the magic of the place just lifts you above it. Fyi, it was also most memorable for my girls aged 7& 10. No place like it on earth...or at least not that I've seen so far.
