Hi sssteve- yes, I saw them... they reminded me of some wonderful sunrises at the water's edge!
You also didn't mention on your webpage whether you attended any of the Easter processions that take place all around the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento. I really hope you got to experience at least one of them during your stay there.

Thank you all for the great advice. At the moment we have reserved Settimo Cielo for 3 nights. SSSteve I visited your website and am considering revising the end of our trip. We are flying out of Rome and had planned on spending 3 nights in Rome. Now I'm considering saving Rome for another trip and adding another 2 nights on - possibly move to another location on the Amalfi Coast.

Do you think we'll be okay weatherwise in Mid October?

THANKS!!!

sssteve, did you like the "Grand Hotel Aminta" I was there with a friend about 8 years ago. We were so dissapointed with the hotel. It felt like we were in a college dorm on the first day of school (no decorations at all). But I must admit that the view we had of Mt Vesuvus was breathtaking. But if I could do it over I would stay at a different hotel.

I forgot to mention that we loved Sorrento. It was a great town to stay in.

I would recommend staying in Sorrento. Although Positano is quite beautiful, Sorrento is a better locale for using as a base to travel. Also, I have a great hotel recommendation. I stayed at La Tonnarella. It had the most breathtaking views, and a great restaraunt to boot. The rooms were very comfortable and very clean and the staff was very nice. The views and the short distance to downtown made this hotel a great place for me. I cant wait to go back! It is however, located up the hill from town tucked away on a cliff. You can walk the short distance, but you may also choose to travel by taxi. (http://www.latonnarella.it/)

Bella - actually we did attend 2 easter processions and I don't remember why I didn't mention it. It may because the Easter procession in Sorrento is kinda SPOOKY!! The marchers are in black capes and hoods carrying what look like instruments of torture...

Francot - Aminta was OK. I believe it was renovated since you were there, but the best part of it was the view.

MMM30 - weather in october should be nice.

My wife and I stayed in Sorrento when we visited the Amalfi Coast. It is absolutely beautiful there. Not sure what Positano is like though.
