Hi, all Chicagoans - J. Fowler, I think we both live in the same "village"! Born in Chicago and live in the burbs. My heart is in Paris, but my body will go anywhere it can get. I got the travel bug early and I only wish I had all the lifetimes necessary to visit and live in the places I want.

Came out to L.A. at age of 20 [alone] from Phila. area. Still hate the cold. 2 years in Berkeley, then many years in So. Calif. If I'd stayed in the east it would have been a shorter, cheaper plane ride to Europe [what does a 20 year old know?] Had dinner at Windows on the World in '91 ---can't get it out of my mind. Thanks to those from abroad for their kind words.

Nice to know this post is still going! If anyone cares (all the stories sound so much more exotic than mine), I was born in Philly, raised in Washington, DC suburbs (Olney, Maryland anyone?), went to college in New Jersey, grad school in Montreal, and then ended up settling at the Jersey Shore--which is where I've been since 1987. Husband moved here from London, England just a few years ago, so I guess that means it's home for both of us! Lots of international origins on here--I agree. An impressive group.

(But am now itching to move) : )

Born, raised, and continuing to live in Pgh, PA. Have traveled to Europe several times, and France is my favorite place to go. I've studied French off and on since I was in hs and most recently attended a language school for 2 wks in Tours for a "total immersion" experience. Daydream is to retire in Provence! Will probably stay here in the 'Burgh and travel over as much as possible.
