Hey I'm a neighbor too, Lori! heehee. Nice to see so many "Mid-Towners". They're now saying rain heavy at times tomorrow and then "drastically" colder. Ick.
|
Sarah,
sorry I missed your question on skiing. I don't ski but the mountains and ski slopes are about one and a half hours drive away. I'm afraid I prefer to see the mountains in all their glory without hordes of people on them. They really look awful in the summer (scarred etc.) where the skiing takes place.

Be careful what you wish for, Sarah.

The teenage boy across the street has decided to spend hours and hours preparing for a lucrative career as a rock band drummer. His parents are thrilled. Another teen boy just learned to drive or something, as he revs his engine, brakes hard, and shouts a lot.

We should change the name of my street to Hormone Alley.

I'm in the San Francisco Bay area. Just has a burrito for lunch. Yum.
It's cold and foggy. Tourists beware. Too cold to go out into the garden so I'll go online.

I am in New Orleans,La and I am home. I snuck a few hours off. I am a teacher of Gifted and Talented students. It is beautiful, sunny and about 82 degrees. What do you do for a living? I am curious to know the different occupations of people who love to travel.

Ingrid, I know where you can get a poodle, cheap. No, free!

Why does he only bark during conference calls? Why?

Den/Well there are enough NYC people who are on this thread to jump on an lend Den a hand. Den this is the time of year that drives me crazy hot one minute and cold the next. I am wearing a leather jacket some days and nothing on others. When traveling what I do is go to Yahoo and check out the weather for five days following, do this closer to your trip. This will help you dress well. I am not wearing my summer clothes at all anymore. I suspect we are going to see days in the 60's and 50's always rain this time of year at least on some days. So Den when in doubt layer. A sweater over your shoulder, light shirt underneath, rain gear, comfortable walking shoes, maybe one short sleeve shirt in the event you hit a flookish hot day in your suit case.
|
Den: Hope this helps. Note the range of 94 to 28 degrees, be prepared for everything, but October is one of the driest months in New York and generally beautiful weather.

OCT.

Average High 65
Average Low 50
Hottest Ever 94
Coldest Ever 28
Average Rain 3.4 Inches
Sarah, Frank,
Thanks for the info sound very like Scottish weather at this time of the year - well the rain does anyway. I'll pass this on to my wife but she'll probably bring too much anyway. Popping off just now to take my daughter to a dance. I'll look back later.

Hi, such a nice get together~I am in my office at home-instead of designing-I and my poodle also!- are reading the posts...actually, I am reading, he is watching out the window for any stray squirrels coming too close to his house..It is sunny and very warm, windy here too. I think we are about to have a big change in weather, the trees are starting to change colors, and acorns are crashing down on the house all day.And by the way-I live in NJ near the Hudson River and I also had a tuna sandwich for lunch, the poodle watched.

I'm sitting in my office in Boston - I'm an attorney. It is 80 degrees and gorgeous. I'm thinking - boy did I pick the wrong week to go on vacation! I was in Maine last week where it was foggy and cold and week. one nice day the whole week. Maybe that means I'll have great weather on my next vacation. Ate a wrap for lunch and sat outside about an hour ago.
|
I'm at home in Dallas. It's a very cool, rainy day (we sure need it!), and I just finished lunch -- a hamburger. I really love this kind of weather; hope it lasts all weekend.
|
It's cold (50's, I think) & raining & windy here in Ann Arbor, Michigan. My office is freezing, as I don't believe we've turned the heat on yet! I'm drinking a Diet Pepsi, but I had a Boca burger on a wheat bun with ketchup, onion, & lettuce (with a dill pickle on the side) about an hour & a half ago. I might switch over to a hot beverage to warm up & am also considering putting on my Polarfleece cardigan sweatshirt.
BC

Hey Beth, I'm too am in downtown Chicago working-- just came back from lunch having had an eggplant parmigiana sandwich. Yes, the weather here stinks, cold and dreary with more of the same this weekend. NYC usually gets our weather a few days later, so enjoy that beautiful day NY!

Ok I know this sounds corny Dallas but I always have this image of Texas having amaizing red meat. And exactly what is Tex/Mex. a friend who moved up hear claims she can't find a restaurant up here that comes close to what she can find in Texas. Care to tell us a bit about both Tex/Mex and red meat dishes in Texas. I was a veggie for 10 years and have totally made a turn around.

I'm at the office taking a pause from my job hunt. Already notified by company I'm being "FMP'd" (our telecomm talk for forced management program -- a/k/a you're being laid off). And yes, company has given us this time to search for other opportunities. Cool & rainy --- cooler temps are great, however can live without the dreary raindrops. Rather have the "we really need rain days" during the week and not on weekend.

It's 2:35 pm Central & sipping on my diet coke.

25 miles from San Francisco in a town called Walnut Creek.
Grey/overcast/coolish (that's why I have been on the board all morning)
In my home office
Dog's asleep on sofa (pug/chihuahua mix)
Left-over chicken and orange juice for lunch
Suposed to be nice this weekend (I hope so. Gonna go to Sonoma Valley for some wine tasting tomorrow).
Leaves begining to turn, but we don't get the reds you Easterners get.
Gregory: looking forward to Taties and mince tomorrow night. Scotland (Largs) in May.
Canuk: Love you guys. The most unassuming, but steadfast friends a Country could have. Thanks for everything.
New Yorkers (especially Manhattan'ers): our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Have a great weekend everybody.
|
