Week after Xmas, to Seattle, then Vancouver for 4 days. End of March (school spring break), to Paris for 8. End of school year, off on the annual 6 week family visit and explorations in Spain, the first 2 weeks with friends on a trip through Catalunya and up into Rousillon, then 8 days of madness, working in Pamplona during San Fermin, finally finishing up with some R&R in the Pais Vasco/Pays Basque. In Sept., been blessed with a full year sabbatical. Still hard to believe...so now dreaming about the myriad possibilities while madly trying to build up that travel nest egg to make a few long-postponed European journeys a reality. The first one: that much longed for visit to the Italian Lakes plus a return trip to Liguria, with my priceless Bob the Nav travel file in hand! Bob, hope you have a wonderful trip to Santa Fe. As a child, used to go on family vacations to the Bishop's Lodge outside of town-love that area. As Joe says, be sure to take the "high road" to Taos through Truchas, and consider stopping on the way back for a sunset dinner on the terrace at Rancho de Chimayo-lovely spot.
Happy journeys to one and all!

We are going to Scotland for 8 days in August 2002 with two kids (10 and 14). Any recommendations and 'don't miss' are welcome. Will stay in London for two days after that (third trip to London, just want to take kids to Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, city tour and show at night).

Beth, you can visit me anytime you want. I am always up for chatty visitors. In fact, my friend, Judith, is flying in from London tomorrow to attend an auction in Philly and we are having a visit! I just love having global relationships. (We already have a global economy and global politics, why not relationships?)

I was supposed to leave for Italy on Sept 13th, that didn't happen, so I guess I may go there in Sept 2002. I want to go to Paris or Prague, but I may end up in Amsterdam again in Feb.
To Gail:
Your trip to Italy sounds fantastic. Would you please post your trip report. Please. I love Italy but visited only Rome, Florence, and Sicily so far.

And you are right I feel I have a great life because my husband loves to travel and he is the best traveling companion. December 14 is a last day of my graduate school and we both waited for this day so long. Starting December 15 for one year we decided to take as many trips as we wish without any time restrictions.
