My mom and brother often meet us upon returning from a trip to hear about the details and see what fun shopping we did (if any).
I kiss my pets and browse through the mail. Order dinner in... while reminising! |
It usually takes me days, if not weeks, to really unpack completely. I think I still have some hair products in my suitcase from my trip in March. But the first thing I unpack are usually any purchases-new CDs, gifts for people, FOOD! Then I shower.
Then I'll usually sit out front, my friends in the neighbourhood will usually come over and we'll chat about my trip over a couple of cigarettes. Next day, back to work usually! |
mari5, I'm with jenblase on this one! Non-cat lovers don't understand the bond that can take place between a cat(s) and their owner(s). My cat sleeps with us every night and too will meow outside our door if we lock her out. She does get mad at us when we leave her and will hide from us for a few hours, sulking and letting us know she's upset, but she can't hold out for too long before she starts craving love and attention.
The dog is always super happy to see us, but I think part of that is because he hates being in a kennel! Tracy |
Oh yeah, I forgot the bra - shoes off, bra off as soon as I get in!

I can SO relate to the not unpacking the suitcase thing! I've been traveling so much this past year (mostly domestically - boo hoo!) it's gotten to the point where I don't unpack the suitcase until it's time to pack for the next trip. My suitcase from my last trip to NYC two and a half weeks ago is still sitting on my bedroom floor. It'll get emptied and the laundry done when I'm getting ready to head for SF in July. Good thing I'm a bit of a clothes horse and have plenty to wear no matter what's sitting in that suitcase!

1. Check on the gifts/breakables, make sure they are still giftworthy and not broken.
2. Get all photos transferred onto PC and burned onto multiple CD/DVD. 3. Call the family (well, my spouse handles this chore). 4. Settle in and accept the fact that until my next journey, I will have no more GREAT beer and natural food. 5. Think of ways to increase my personal wealth so we can make this journey more frequently. 1. Throw the luggage in a corner
2. Use the loo 3. Check voice mail 4. Pour a big glass of Apfelschorle 5. Check mail and open a very few letters that seem interesting, leave the rest for later. 6. Open the suitcase and take out a very few things i need or want immediately. Leave the rest for later. 7. Cook vegetarian tortellini and tomato sauce - my usual coming home dish. 8. Fall onto sofa with a very silly book, read and eat tortellini. 9. Phone BF/parents/Grandma to tell them I'm back. |
