What's on in Glasgow?
Along with hundreds of other librarians (sounds boring already but it's not!) I'm going to Glasgow next week for the annual IFLA Conference. Can anyone point me in the direction of a website that will tell me what's on in Glasgow between 18 - 23 August? Theatre and comedy listings would be especially appreciated. Thanks.

Try looking at the Glasgow Herald website - www.theherald.co.uk This might give you some pointers.<BR><BR>If you're particularly interested in theatre and comedy, though, the main action is in Edinburgh at the Fringe. The Scotsman newspaper usually has a good section on this - www.scotsman.com

Well, there'll always be a few brawls going on. Although if you want to take part you may have to book in advance -- they're very popular. But steer clear of the Glasgow Kiss.

The Glasgow tourist board at http://visitors.seeglasgow.com/ has a searchable events index. Also, this isn't a website, but when you arrive you can pick up a copy of The List, a magazine that has lots of listings of what's going on in Edinburgh and Glasgow, kind of like Time Out does for London.

For club nights, check: http://www.webflyers.co.uk/city.asp?city=Glasgow<BR><BR>http://members.aol.com/tredmark/tredmarkhome.html<BR><BR>General listings:<BR><BR>http://www.glasgowlife.com/<BR> http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/html/whatson/<BR>windex.htm<BR><BR>http://www.pure-dead-glasgow.com/glasgow/entertain.html (links to many sites)<BR><BR>The List (which is available on-line) can also be purchased in print once you arrive and will have lots of entertainment listing.<BR><BR>

Just found this great site:<BR><BR>http://www.s1play.com<BR><BR>Allows you to search by specific date or month, and you can select comedy, stage, music, restaurants, etc. for many cities in Scotland, Glasgow included.

Glasgow is only 45 mins from Edinburgh on the train, the Edinburgh festival is on right now, so choice is wider than usual.Plenty to do in Glasgow though.
