Personally, I do not think that tank tops, sundresses, flip flops and halter tops are appropriate for Rome, but I've seen a great many tourists wearing them.

Thank you Beaches71. That's exactly what I meant when asking about what to wear in Rome. Who cares what the fashion trend is. I just wanted to know what was "appropriate." By the way, I will be in Rome from 6/25-27th.

Joalang, from your other post I am sure whatever you decide to wear will be appropriate. Just do take shoes that you know will be alright for lots of walking. That is so important. Vanity be darn!!

I always think that one's first visit to Italy is the most exciting one of all! BTW, I can't remember if you said you had a map or not. If not, you can buy one at a bookstore in Rome. Take care.

If you have to wear a tank top or halter, I would suggest topping it with a light-weight shirt. That way, you are covered when you need to be, and if you are so inclined to sun-bathe, you can remove the shirt.
