I have great memories of TOTP. I grew up with it and it played a large part of my teenage life. I remember when a single got to No1 by selling hundreds of thousands of copies and not as today by the number of times a day it gets played on commercial radio.

Fantastic times and I feel an era that my kids are missing out on and will never be able to re-create, it is sadly their loss.

Yep I am over 40, so I fit the mourners profile. I was so happy to see the last episode on VH1 Classics, I hated when it was yanlked from bbc America. It will be on again tonight at 9:00PM

"Grandfather"?! I'm not that old, and I can remember when Aunty Mu was a mere sidekick to Ollie Beak and Fred Barker. Ready Steady Go was merely yesterday.

Oh, I love it when old posts are resurected.

I see from a previous post I was trying to watch the 'Peep Show' and failing - I did get a handle on it (the one I watched was where he had a crush on his boss) and couldn't reall get the humour.

Since then I have enjoyed:

Footballers Wives
Mile High and best of all
Life on Mars

i think I only watch most of them for the English accents but I do enjoy LOM - if only I could stop the tune going through my head :-D

You got me beat there, never heard of them...
But then in the mid 70's when I was a teenager I spent my whole days and evenings playing football or cricket and when I wasn't doing that I was swimming. TV is a poor substitute for fun don't you think.
But I did make an exception for TOTP.

I had to jump in in the middle of reading this very entertaining stuff to agree with you about the shipping forecast.. i used to stay with an old aunt at times when i was about 6 or 7 and she put radio 4 on at bed time i was mesmerized by the shipping forecast i thought it was some kind of secrate code.. thanks for the memory

I just washed some towels and bedding and pegged them out... It started spitting.. I thought its only a shower, and left them, It started to chuck it down so i brought them in... and now its sun shining again THATS England for you.. Lancashire where the real people live!! (watch what a commotion that statement will start ha ha)
