It's not. Itīs about 40 km north of Lisbon. If you look for sun, quiet sea and night, nothing beats the Algarve. Santa Cruz if my favourite because it reminds me of my youth as I said. But the water is icing cold (17 celsius), the sea is usually rough and the weather uncertain. But I like it. |

Ironic, since I'm always going to Greece, but the most stunning beach in Europe for me was on Formentera in the Spanish Balearics.
Best in the world? The best I've been on, anyway, was Whitehaven Beach in the Australian Whitsundays. |
How do I find that spot at Capo Vaticano? I go to Tropea as a day trip from my aunt's home in Calabria. I once tried to find that exact location and couldn't!
