I disagree with Book Chick, although I think her information is first rate. We went on a tour of the sewers last winter. It was a bit of a stretch for us, but I did find it interesting. Old Paris looks the same underground as it did during the earlier days. Pipes containing compresssed air and water also use these "tunnels". It was interesting seeing where the French resistance hid out, and the networks of tunnels. It actually didn't smell like I expected, they must pipe frash air into the tour area. I always try to get off the beaten path, I think this qualifies! It's cheap, I say nothing ventured, nothing learned....
