The weather in D.C this past weekend was cold Sat, warm Sunday.

Sat: Hubby and I went to Amish market for breakfast. Later had lunch at a new French bistro type of place that just opened in Bethesda, MD--Mon Ami Gabi. Great place--makes you wish you were in Paris!

Sat night--checked out a new "rock & roll" bowling place if you can believe that. Good music, laser lights, have to be 21 after a certain hour on weekends, so it was fun.

Sunday--slept in, read paper; we had great chili and cornbread that I made from scratch for lunch. Went to see "Kissing Jessica Stein,"--great movie.

Los Angeles: Sat. took new dog: Kody, an Australian mix from a pet rescue organization to his first training/obedience class. I thought he was untrained until I heard the rukus at the outdoor school. All nice people and nice/intelligent trailer, had a good time, I was trained well.
Sat. night, still some energy left so went to the gym until it closed at 8pm then to a local health food store to stock up. Home, read Victoria magazine with a glass of French red wine, the bed with a crossword puzzle.
Sun. Read newspaper, had whole grain pancakes with apricot sauce and coffee.
Spent the rest of the day planting Irish moss where the front lawn used to be. Also added some purple and pink flowers at random to look like an English garden, got the ideas from old Victoria magazines. At night, the good satisfied kind of exhaustion, so I watched Bridget Jones Diary on cable with another glass of red wine, then started Christ Stopped At Eboli and off to bed at 1am, "time lag" from the time change.

I live in Florida and my week-end was pretty usual. Friday nite, light dinner and even ligther tv (State of Grace, 2xs, etc.).
Saturday - got outside to enjoy the beautiful weather: about 80 degrees and sunny. Took my 19 month granddaughter to the park and for a long walk.
Sunday - hubby, granddaughter and I went to a plant fest and purchased some new plants for the backyard garden and cypress lawn furniture. Then took my daughter, who is a high school senior, shopping for shoes to go with her prom dress. Prom is this Saturday and she is finally ready. Went for another long walk then had a big Sunday dinner with the family (which my husband cooked) then watched "Soul Food" for relaxing. All and all, a good week-end.

Ben, you did your taxes? I spent Sunday doing data entry of tax payments for the IRS (I do temp work in one of 12 processing centers). It is such a fascinating job especially seeing all the checks and balances in their system! Trust me, everyone, your payments ARE secure (as well as your personal info)!!

I spent the rest of the weekend obsessing over an upcoming trip to Paris!! Aaaccckkk!! :0)
|
dear xxxx, isn't it fun to obsess over a trip to Paris?? :)
I was obsessing over the bathroom reno. Now that is nowhere near as fun as last minute plans for Paris.

Saturday went to the wedding of the son of French teacher friend; all of us French teachers rode in a limo with a French-speaking driver, sat at a totally French-speaking table at the reception at the Monte Carlo, and to top it off, one of my former French students was the bartender. On Sunday I recovered (it isn't always good to have a former student as bartender) and got caught up on 6 Feet Under. Therefore I spent no time over the weekend obsessing over my trip to Paris next week or doing my taxes, so now I am in panic mode!

Friday - saw Panic Room with Jodie Foster. I liked it.
Saturday - 8:30 breakfast with friends
11:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m. More work on TAXES.
Sunday - tried to sort out all the info I have collected for my upcoming trip, worked on flexible itinerary for each location, etc. I can't wait to go so I can quit wearing myself out planning it.

Live in Zurich

Friday husband and I went to the gym and had lovely dinner at Lasalle with amazing bottle of Sicilian wine. Sat woke up to a big brunch, went shopping and did a glorious hour and 15 minute run in the hills, enjoyed the sunny weather. Cooked up a storm for old friends who came over Sat. night.

Sunday another big brunch and more gym time to work off Saturday's excesses. Went and saw Queen of the Damned, very disappointed...like one long MTV video. More planning on the bali trip (leaving in one week!) and finished off the evening with home made spagetti and ben and jerry's ice cream. Ahhhhhhhh....

Saturday: went to the office to clean. I needed to clear a whole area next to my window ledge because the cleaning guys were coming on Sunday to clean off the non-toxic mold.

Sunday: Lovely day in Hawaii. Ran 14 miles in the morning....then put the calories back on at brunch, at Sam Choy's Breakfast Lunch & Crab (very good!). I would have gone to the movies except that my office called me in .... they found toxic mold in my room! moved out my essentials. Then met my family at the Outback Steakhouse for dinner. Basically, food, food, and food.

We've been wanting to go back and check out Trummelbach Falls at its fullest, since we came to Switzerland to work. We were there two years ago in autumn and it was lovely, but nothing so "grand" and the caretaker there said taht we should come back in Spring. Well last year we got there on 30/3 only to find out that the place opens in april.

So last weekend being the first weekend after april 1 - we decided to check it out. Unfortunately the volume of water wasn't that different to when we went there in autumn. Maybe next year... hmmm...

Took a bath, then napped. Read for a few hours while it snowed outside (in April!) then met some US Peace Corps volunteers for dinner.

NOT a typical weekend - quite a good weekend actually.

Live in London.

Friday: Evening -Played a hard game of tennis with my ever competitive friend Michelle. Had dinner with her. Went home to catch up with 'Fraiser'.

Saturday: Cleaner came in the morning so I had to get up before she came round. Read the papers and made some phone calls and it was time to go out. Met up with my gay friends for lunch at Oxo Tower and saw one of films showing at London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival. Went to check out the New Emporio Armani in Bond Street after the film. Bought a top. Went home to rest after shopping. Had dinner with three other friends at Hakkasan. Nearly fought with an Italian brute on the stairway of the restaurant (yes, I know some martial arts). I thought you wouldn't get any rip-rough in a swish restaurant obviously I was wrong. Checked out the new club 'The Sweet Suite' in Soho. Very crowded. Neither Graham Norton nor The Pet shop boys were there (they were the founder members of this club). Stayed there until 2 a.m.

Sunday: Got up late and spent the remainder of the morning reading The Sunday Times. Went to Mirabelle for lunch with my sister and her family. Went to gym for an hour in the evening and stayed in. Did some work for Monday's meeting. Retired to bed early.

I am in my office now and thinking about my trip to Amsterdam this weekend - Gaugin exhibition and Floriade. Friday is three days away. Sigh.

Took a walk along Meeting St and down to Battery Park (Charleston, SC). Busy with tourists and locals alike enjoying the sun.

Sunday booked tickets online for forthcoming trip to London.
