yeah, HFCS was a real con, shows you what you can do with too much marketing budget

The custom has never been. I have been ordering only one course for more than 50 years in Italian restaurants. Italians couldn't even understand what you are worrying about. "Frowned upon? Who t.f. cares about it?"

I guess that the loved (and lamented) Sora Lella could never have imagined that English speaking customers were so... themselves... not to get the joke.

I hope you don't actually need somebody to explain why you were taught how to order a full meal and not only the author's favorite course.
