Hate to be the downer, but welsh Rarebit is one of the world's most disgusting things imaginable. It makes me gag.

You must have had bad luck. A good rarebit is absolutely yummy . . .

thursdaysd, I found your blog in Wales from another thread. We've booked the same B&B you did in Conwy. One of our other choices was sold out for our dates.

Anyway, looking forward to trying rarebit!

Nelson: We also stayed at Gwynfryn and loved the proprietors and location. I hope you also read thursdaysd's note about Watson's Bistro- Excellent modern Welsh food. Loved the cheese plate, but also (for those non-veggies) the lamb was wonderful. Don't miss the Albion Pub and real cask ale!

It was a Friday staple at my elementary school - that probably explains it, as I have no problem with bread, mustard, ale, and cheese.

Thanks eastenderusvi. The Gwynfryn proprietors sent a personalized email offering to answer further questions, etc. after I booked, which was a nice touch. thursdaysd's report is in my Wales bookmarks (now getting quite large) and I did note her comment about Watson's. Fortunately my wife and I usually split a main. Thanks for the Albion Pub tip. We'll drop our rental car and be four nights in Conwy with one day for sure planned at Bodnant, and plenty of options for the other days.

My wife wants to shop at the Celtic Knitwear Company and I had a pleasant e-mail exchange with the owner. She gave her mobile and said even if they are in the pubs to give a call and they'll open up for us. But we'll show up during regular open hours. The Knight Shop is also on the list, you never know when a suit of armour will come in handy!
