Thanks everyone! I will provide some more details!

Bologna is a wonderful base for the area. The train station is very well connected for day trips to Ferrara, Parma, Ravenna, Verona and Modena to name a few! We spent 5 nights in Bologna in 2013 (wow can't believe that was so long ago!)

You can read our trip report and get links to those pics and restaurant recs from last time here

On that trip we did day trips to Parma, Modena, and Verona.

We always stay here http://www.anticaresidenzadazeglio.it

We love the owner and the location is a short walk to centre and a bit quieter.

As most of you know, we love food! I had made 3 reservations for this trip and none disappointed. They all required reservations as they were full!

Lunch on Saturday: Trattoria di Via Serra
http://www.trattoriadiviaserra.it
Lovely lunch with fresh food and great staff. Someone comes around to help you through the menu if you don't speak Italian.

Dinner on Saturday was a splurge: Michelin starred I Portici Restaurant
http://www.iporticihotel.com/en/i-portici-restaurant
Fancy tasting menu, very inventive, harpist through dinner

Lunch on Sunday: Drogeria Della Rosa
http://www.drogheriadellarosa.it
An old pharmacy, family owned and delicious!!

These food photos have not been added yet but I will do that tonight and label them.

In between feasting we wandered around enjoying the porticos and stopped for wine.

It was the perfect place for a weekend!

I will pass on the compliment regarding scotts beard...he will appreciate it! We have been working hard to get in shape since last time and you can really tell with his pic!

And I added one of me :)

Happy Tuesday!

annhig my hubbie took a language class in bologna several years ago. loved it (koine) . his favorite teacher, whom we visited last year, has now started his own school. if interested, i can get the name...

hi kawh - yes please! We have identified a school that we quite like the look of, but are certainly up for considering any others. i don't think that the one we were looking at was Koine, so we could consider that one too.
