I don't think it needs to be pulled, it has some info for folks flying Virgin Atlantic.
I usually fly Air France to Europe and have never had any issue getting an assigned seat when I book the flight, rather than 24 hrs in advance. IN fact, I'm looking at buying a ticket from them now and they allow me to select my seat, and it's a couple months in advance. |
I have found most airlines allow seat selection if they have lots of seats available when I book. However, if the flight is close to selling out or if I am booking close to my date of departure, I usually have to wait until 24 hours before flying to choose my seat.

Some posts might provide good information, but the headline is what everyone will see, "Virgin Atlantic is a nightmare". Many might read that, and move on, discounting Virgin based on just skimming headlines.
As the OP, I would either delete the thread, or re-post the good information under a revised headline, "I was wrong about Virgin Atlantic being a nightmare". Just in all fairness to readers and to Virgin. IMHO. |
Anyone who would judge an airline solely by the title of a thread on a website is an idiot. This thread contains useful info and shouldn't be deleted.
As far as it being in fairness to "readers," if they actually read the thread they will see that it is indeed fair to Virgin. As for Virgin, I think Richard Branson and his billions will be able to survive one misleading title on a Fodor's forum. IMHO. |
Hmmm, quite an interesting reaction to my suggestion.
Because Branson is wealthy and successful, it is ok to trash his business unfairly? And because headline-readers are "idiots", there is no need to be respectful by clearing up a misstatement. Well, it isn't my thread, and I won't post again about it, but if it were mine, I would re-post and clear it up. I think we owe each other to be correct and not inflammatory in our postings. |
The OP didn't trash his business--she expressed her opinion. Several posters came to Virgin's defense. The OP then acknowledged that she didn't realize this was common practice in the airline business. There's nothing else to clear up.
I won't post again either. We've beat this horse this enough. |
