Verona - Venice : Bus or train?

My friend and are doing point-to-point from Milan to Vienna in June; We will get off in Verona and go out to Venice for a day or so. Is is cheaper/better to take the bus or the train? Any other advice?

We took the train from Verona to Venice in April this year and thought it was great. Often the busses are slower because of the traffic.
Have fun :-)

I'm pretty sure that there are no direct buses between Venice and Verona, only between Venice and Padua.

See my previous posting:

Four types of trains between Venice and Verona.

Can we just buy tickets when we get there, or should we buy them ahead of time? If so, where can we do that?

Buy your train tickets at the train station or at a local travel agency when in Italy. Absolutely no need to buy in advance.

Hi abby,

If it would make you feel better, you can purchase tickets up to 60 days in advance online from www.trenitalia.com/en for the same price as in Italy.

For IC trains you will get a confirmation of the purchase and will have to go to the station to get your ticket.

For ES* trains the confirmation is the ticket.

Hi again,

>..from Milan to Vienna in June; We will get off in Verona and go out to Venice...<

Why not go directly to Venice from Milan, or are you planning on staying in Verona?

The train from Venice to Vienna goes by way of Verona.

I have only bought train tickets at the local train station(s) a few days ahead. I have yet to run into a problem doing so.

Not that this proves anything either, but I don't know anyone who has chosen a bus instead of the train system when traveling around Western Europe.

We went from Milan to Venice by train with a stop over in Verona to break up the trip. It wasn't any problem buying tickets and I'm sure it would be better than a bus. Verona wasn't that bad with some good shopping.

Have fun in Verona. It's a great town for walking around and exploring. They have an incredible Roman amphitheater, a big outdoor market and some pedestrian-only zones.

Click <ahref="http://http://community.webshots.com...here</a> and look for the Verona pictures we took on our first Italian trip, 13 years ago.

Why didn't that work? Oh, well. Copy & paste...

Take the train from Verona to Venice. Also, we love Verona, you can read about it on our trip report at http://www.markandmonica.com/Travel/italy.htm
